This house sold in March for $800k. The new owners turn around and sell it to a developer. Now the developer wants to demo it, build three houses on it. The previous owners are now trying to block the demo, trying to get it put on a register of historic homes. They claim it was designed by a famous architect, but it was actually designed some architect in FLA, designed like that of the famous architect.
It’s a cool house, but it needs a ton of work done. They probably realized it was a money pit and sold it. Now they don’t want it demolished.

What makes them think they have any right to stop anything? If they liked the house so much, the shouldn’t have sold it.

Hideous. Reminds me of that house on Sherwood, which I spent a lot of time at. Modern art deco. Flat roof, just awful.

If I was the developer, I would say ok, give me my money back and do what you want with it. Like I said, it’s probably a money pit, needing $500,000 in work to fix it

Mid Century Modern and while MCM is not for everyone it is in high demand for the last ~10 years.

The previous owner should have done the registry work before selling it if they cared. It would be a shame for it to be torn down depending on who the architect was but it isn't a Wright or Sullivan AFAIK.

I think it’s funny that they call it the Crawford home, named after some famous architect, but it wasn’t designed by Crawford, it was only designed like a Crawford home.
The house is fine as hell, and if they claim it needs to be fixed and preserved, why did they let the house get in such shitty condition?

If they loved it so much, they shouldn't have sold it. Having said that, developers and the real estate business in general are sleazy as frick. I can totally see some slapdick coming their door with that sob story.

It’s an ugly dated rundown house with a sandbox built in under the stairs. Put it out is misery and level the damn thing. People and their attachments to things need to stop.

All 1950's era architecture should be demolished.

I thought that was a sandbox, or an atrium with no plants in it.

If done right, MCM homes are the finest things around.

Never cared for outside, but as a kid running around in that house it was pretty bad arse. The backyard was like another world.

That said I’m not a fan of them dropping 4 houses on the lot.

If that pic is from 2005 that dog has probably been dead for awhile.

He had a great place to shite while it lasted though
