Yes us true American Patriots love having a centralized mass surveillance database.
Having our kids surveilled in private by random people is a small price to pay.

False accusations are no big deal and I trust all of law enforcement to do the right thing.

If it saves Home Depot or Lowes money I'm all for it.

Well, a smart person would side with the Constitution, but you would have to understand it first
You want to now coherently articulate what the constitution has to do with cameras on private property? Make Robert P. George proud.
You one of those folks who say "they had a first amended right" after someone gets their arse whipped for running their mouth to someone else aren't you?

Yeah, the first time your car gets burglarized in one of those parking lots you'll be thankful that they had a camera monitoring the lot.

How come these “advocates” don’t advocate for consumers not having to pay for the theft loss.

It’s private property. You don’t have to go on it.

If the local law enforcement doesn’t do anything about this, what’s the point?

But will they do anything when they catch them? The current trend seems to be to stand by and let ‘em go. All stores.

Home Depot in Zachary already has them.

The shoplifter shows up in car they lifted, shoplifter leaves in lifted car and the police show up at your house, you get arrested .......
I suggest they arm their employees with nail guns..Just the look of that would say...make my day punk

Lowes & HD are private stores, their parking lots are owned by the stores.
.Hopefully the additional cameras will discourage criminal activity there.
I’m not ever there for nefarious purposes, take my visible information and create a log on my habits there.

The records, obtained from the Johnson County, Texas Sheriff’s Office by the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) and shared with 404 Media, show the sheriff’s office is able to tap into Flock license plate reading cameras at 173 different Lowe’s locations around the U.S. and that it can tap into cameras and gunshot-detecting microphones at dozens of Home Depot stores within Texas. The records are the latest to shed light on how expansive Flock’s surveillance network has become, and highlights that it includes cameras that are operated by both police and private businesses

Someone posted a flock camera link on here a week or two ago... the only spot in my area that had them was the Lowe's- had every entrance/exit covered.

but I don't see how the cameras can tell by just reading the license plates whether someone's legal or illegal
Quite easy to just steal a license plate to avoid these cameras.
Id be curious to see if LEO would or could respond to an actual crime in a timely manner.

They already have cameras inside the stores, as well as at the registers. My point is the have me on camera, as well as my purchases. Even if you pay with cash, they've got the info there on camera to seduce what my purchasing habits are.
My point is the advocates argument is bullshite. While I don't necessarily support a surveillance police state, I don't have an issue with a private business doing this. It seters criminals, making shopping safer, helps with shrink, the cost of which is passed on to us the consumer.

Ok, so we’ll take a picture of their license plate then send it to the police to do absolutely nothing. Great idea.

Those annoy me... I'm not thief but the giant monitor with my face on it and the green squares was pretty off putting.
But yeah- business can do what it needs to deter assholes.

the advocates argument is that this is a surveillance police state through a private business
its been proven that the government has access to all of these cameras
