Unbelievable!
Undergrad education cost is completely out of control especially in the Ivies where they are luring kids into an exclusive club that is run by a multi billion dollar endowment.

Niece just got accepted to Iowa and it will end up being $192k for out of state for a Public school. Unbelievable.

People just have to say no to this nonsense. We don’t need more people with degrees.

Irony of course is that all the info they offer is instantly available on a device we all hold in our hands…for free!

Biggest scam in the country.

He would almost be guaranteed to make more money out of school as a mechanic than with 75% of undergrad majors.

We have a family member's kid trying to get in an Ivy League School, probably a fat chance since he's white.

But this is an example of one year's costs:

Detailed Breakdown:
Tuition: $59,320
Health Services: $1,800
Housing Rate: $13,532
Student Services: $3,676
Total Billed Costs: $86,926 (includes tuition, fees, housing, food, and other expenses)

Most Universities have 60% staff admin, 40% actual professors. Those $500k salaries don't pay for themselves.

Isn’t TOPS supposed to pay the tuition and you’re left with fees and housing?

But $43k for a state school that isn’t even top 100 is dumb.

There are maybe 10 schools that are actually worth that, from a national perspective. No one in Orlando is going to be impressed you went to UC Davis over USF and 3 years after graduation the school you went to barely matters at all (for most fields)

I think there needs to be some sort of student loan bailout because the future economic consequences are dire, but they have to crack the frick down on the way it works. Loans should be available to cover the in-state tuition at the state's flagship(s), similar to the way PACT worked

Estimated Yearly Direct Cost

Tuition & Fees: $12,472 (Louisiana Resident)

Food: $5,400

Housing: $10,004

Directly from LSU website. LINK

You are including Housing and Meal plan, that is more than the tuition.. Tuition is only 12,472 then you will get the 7 - 8k TOPs. So the cost of school will be only 20ish, but for your to pay all your kids expenses and let them party for 4 years.. lol.. will be another 70-80k, unless they go Greek add another 20-40k to the bill.

my goodness. we have the YouTUBes now.

you can watch any professor speak on any dumb subject and learn just as much as paying a RIDICULOUS amount of money for what amounts to 85% fluff and 15% actual material that means anything.

totally stupid. its like these dinosaur institutions have forgotten they don't own the market on $500 textbooks and 'sacred' class instruction with 100 other students.

well, they have to have a place to eat and sleep unless you want them living out of their car & eating at mcdonalds.

thats like the protection package new car dealers sell you for $1,000 that you can't opt out of. Pure profit margin for LSU.

Friend,

Tulane’s cost per year with tuition, fees, room and board is now $90,000/year. Each year it increases approximately 4%. When I was there in the early 2000s it was, before scholarships, around $30,000 without room and board, as I lived at home and walked or took the streetcar to school. When I transferred to Delgado, it was only $150 per three hour class and the fees were all of $200 a semester. I checked Delgado’s current prices and even now it is $5700 with fees, though, it does not indicate if that is per semester or per year.

LSU’s tuition used to be heavily state subsidized. I think it was around 2010 when the state stopped giving as much tuition subsidy to the state medical schools and tuition jumped in one year from $12,000 a year to nearly $30,000.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

Ever since Obama took over student loans the price went way up.

Same as medical expenses.

How do you expect these colleges to make payroll for administrative staff getting paid an average of $200K a year if they don't charge these prices?
