I think this is also a huge part of minimizing high school graduations. When you have a graduation for Kindergarten, 4th grade, and 8th grade al before HS, it dulls the importance of
None of these other graduations really means anything. Maybe, MAYBE 8th as it represents the transition from kid school to high school and for the most part kids are changing schools/campuses, but we have way to many graduation ceremonies.

Agree with that, although every graduation I have been to has been HS, college or grad school.

Just be the person you want the world to be. Dress with class and go with it. Maybe someone will learn from you and do the same next time. Can’t hurt to dress nicely.

These are the problem. They love the ceremonious dramas and pageantry. This “milestone” is inflated by moms who care more than the kids. It’s just high school, so do what you’re expected to do, and don’t act like it’s exceptional or an honor. DV away.

Utter nonsense. God couldn’t care less what you are wearing. I am sure God is upset that we don’t wear tuxedos to church. How ridiculous…..
The faith you wear in your heart is what He cares about.

I recommend going naked.

After sitting through any number of absolutely shitty ceremonies where it takes an hour just to process in, my judgement is by far the best-run local graduation I have been to is Jesuit’s.
Runs 50-55 minutes every time.
Ceremony starts with closed curtain. Curtain opens, young men are seated on risers and all wear a tuxedo. No gowns, stupid cap artwork, etc. Only the top administrative officials process in. Presidents address, valedictory address, distribution of diplomas, closing principal remarks, Alma mater sung, curtain closes, done. Catcalls, air horns, etc. that depart from a strict decorum get you tossed. Applause held until all names read. Respectful, efficient, just the right amount of pomp and circumstance. People should copy it.

Well there looks like only about a half dozen that could actually do any kind of dancing across the stage. The rest are Bunny Bread.

Always remember to dress for selfish reasons. Especially if it’s a close family member. YOU will see this image for years. People you love will see it for years. “Gym shorts and a hat? Nice look DAD!”

I'm a big "dress to honor the event" type... always suits for a wedding no matter the dress code etc. When my wife earned her second masters WHILE raising our newborn little boy to toddler hood at the same time you bet your arse...suit.
Not only were hats, Jean shorts and t-shirts prevalent.... I think I was maybe 1 of a half dozen people with suit in the entire arena.... hell even if we include PFG shirts with a collar were in the minority. Z
Whatever though...dress how you want, present yourself how your feel comfortable... it's more the behaving like an animal that bugged me

I’ve never understood cheering at a High School graduation. Everyone can finish HS. It’s about impressive as being potty trained.

I heard the Dutchtown graduation was a complete shitshow. Half working PA system. Kids doing backflips and "jigg" dancing. Parents making noise with airhorns, pots & pans, cow bells, etc.
Was there. I’ve attended a few the last few years, and it’s getting worse.
Unfortunately it’s just one segment of the population of course. The principal is also part of that population, so I guess they figure it’s ok.

You all would hate graduations, weddings, and funerals in the rural Midwest
There are a lot of things I like about that part of the country and its people, but damn they are some SLOBS

My wife's ex came to his daughter's graduation from Tulane with her Masters in Education degree and he showed up in blue jeans, a button down shirt, sporting sunglasses and a baseball cap that he had on the entire ceremony and when having a meal at a local sit-down restaurant.
My wife was mortified, as was the daughter.

The number of kids and the way they organize it doesn't help matters either. For those who don't know, Dutchtown has been the largest school in the state by enrollment the last few years. That should start to change now that Prairieville High is up and running, but for now the class sizes are rediculous. Last year's class was 615-620, and I heard this year was close
Couple that with the process, they have the kids walk in reverse GPA order all the way down to maybe a 2.0 or something, then switch to alpabetical. Thus, the kids that have expected to graduate since they were in Pre-K are walking 20 minutes into the ceremony, and the kids at the end that have the family and "culture" to break out the airhorns, pots/pans, etc. don't walk until hour 2 of sitting in 90 degree heat outdoors. It just creates mass chaos at the end
