re: Official US/Israel vs Iran war thread

The amount of spin and cope on message boards and X is going to be epic if/when a deal like that is done
I look forward to our usual suspects on here bringing 10,000 word tweets about how this was all a 6 level deep operation to overthrow the ancient cabal overlords and secretly transfer 80 ga-trillion dollars of wealth from Europe's elites to the US
Also, once the strait is reopened, let's check back in a few weeks on the "beautiful line of beautiful tankers headed to the Gulf of America". I have a feeling it might look a little different once the usual routes are open.

Almost like he’s stalling because he has no clue about how to get us out of that mess….
I think he's got a pretty good clue, he just doesn't like the answer/outcome
The current plan is obviously economic death by strangulation, hoping that Iran will eventually concede and give up the Uranium and stop attacking ships in the strait and allow full travel
If they don't voluntarily do this, then he's got no choice but to send in some type of ground force to extract the uranium and secure the strait. He can't say over and over his sole purpose to prevent Iran from having a nuclear weapon, then leave the uranium inside their borders no matter where it's buried or how hard it is to reach. And bombing from the air doesn't seem to be a "permanent" solution, if it was Midnight Hammer would have made this whole thing a moot point
But a ground war will be a giant red mark against his legacy I don't think he's willing to accept. So round and round we go trying to make a deal.

Probably would have been better if the EO did what they said it would, not how it actually was created
This is the EO equivalent of a sternly written letter.

The order directs bank regulators and government departments to look for signs that people without legal status are opening accounts or obtaining loans or credit cards. However, the order is less aggressive than banks had expected, as earlier reports suggested the White House was drafting an order that would make collecting customers’ citizenship information mandatory.

In response, the banking industry had been aggressively lobbying for months to stop the White House from issuing an executive order that would have made collecting customers’ citizenship status mandatory, arguing it would be expensive and require vast amounts of paperwork. Since the order only offers guidance to the banks instead of a mandate, it appears the banks were able to win over the White House.

I'd be curious if you polled the kids in the picture behind him, what they thought of it
Would they be outraged and feel disrespected, belittled, etc.
Or would they not give a single frick, and would have done the same thing if they were that far out in front of their state title run
Creating "sportsmanship" rules for athletes doesn't make sense unless the athletes themselves have a problem with what's being done

Do you realize we were at war? Messaging is not for us. It is for Iran.
What does that mean? Iran knows what they have and don't have, why would they care what the "messaging" is from Trump about their capabilities.
Trump is speaking about the war just like he would a campaign stop in Iowa. He's going to brag, tell you he's doing "insert thing here" better than anyone has ever done it and anybody that says otherwise is fake news. It is what it is, it's the quality that made him such an endearing candidate and a 2 time winner. But at the same time, it's his weakness when it's situations that aren't totally in his control, he still talks and acts like he is, always will.

Trump is VERY transparent. That post perfectly expresses his utter frustration.
Opening the Strait of Hormuz is not just a matter of will. We don’t have a sustainable military answer right now because we don't have a defensive shield against asymmetric warfare (cheap drones and missiles), as Ukraine has against Russia.
Then maybe it would be a good idea for the President and Secretary of War to stop telling everybody constantly that Iran is "decimated", "they have nothing", and "have no ability to fight back at all". People tend to believe what they are told repeatedly, and then have a hard time understanding how an enemy that supposedly has nothing is still able to shut down a major international waterway.
Trump and Hegseth's constant need to stroke their own ego and make sure everybody knows they have totally, completely won the war better than anyone else ever has won a war is probably backfiring now
I don't think it's crazy to suggest that the public perception of the war would be 10-15 points higher in Trump's favor if he simply didn't have access to Truth Social

re: The Claim That the CIA "Raided" the ODNI is a False Narrative
Posted by OldManRiver on 5/14/26 at 1:00 pm to AlterEd
How long did ODNI have possession of these documents. It's 2026, anyone relying on 1 physical document as the only source of information is an idiot. It's never been easier to digitize and backup everything that you are working on. And in ODNI circles, I would imagine multiple layers of redundancy would be a requirement.

Anna Paulina Luna says that this happened when POTUS and Director Ratcliffe were out of the country so it seems to be an internal coup within the CIA.
Does that mean they cannot fix it when they get back? Like some rouge CIA agents were waiting until they flew out, then pulled a bunch of underhanded shite, and now Trump and Ratcliffe will just say "Damn, we weren't in DC when it went down, oh well nothing can be done now!"
There always seem to be an obstacle to the "big reveal" that with a little critical thinking isn't really an obstacle at all

It doesn't matter if it actually accomplishes anything or not. It gives Eric Daugherty the ability to make a tweet with flashing red lights and all caps that "President Trump saved American homebuyers from the evil globalists!!"
And 3-400k people will see it and think "Yeah, Trump just told Blackrock to frick off!", not really understanding what actually happened.
But it got a great ratio on the Tweet, which is all that really matters

The admin's problem seems to be they don't want to invade and attempt to occupy Iran, which obviously makes sense. But they also don't want to wait a long time and drag out a slow strangulation by economic means.
They want Iran to just say "No Mas" after a couple of weeks. Which seems incredibly unlikely at this point.
