How is it different than the Bird, Swine, SARS, MERS, Ebola or the countless other panic driven virus scares? There is a reason why people doubt this one too. It isn’t whipping out masses of people. It is acting like the flu. It is a treatable illness that affects the youth, elderly, and those with previous medical conditions.
Plus when the media overreacts to something, I’ve been conditioned to assume it is much less significant than it is being portrayed.

Comparing Coronavirus to the flu is idiotic.
It's really not. The flu is a airborne pathogen. COVID-19 is an airborne pathogen. The flu spreads super fast and kills people. COVID-19 spreads super fast and kills people. The flu is a virus, COVID-19 is a virus. The flu's main cause of death is that is causes pneumonia. COVID-19, pneumonia.
I'm so sick of people saying you can't compare the two. The flu is the perfect historic comparison because everyone knows what it is and how to prevent the spread. Sure, COVID-19 has differences but we need to stop shaming people comparing the two bc they are very similar, and everyone knows it.

Wouldn’t it just be easier for everyone to stay put for 2-3 weeks and let this pass?

Does that look like it's still doubling in South Korea the last 9 days?
WHere's your data coming from? This is from WHO

Exactly. We aren't canceling shite so that you won't die. We're doing it because we don't have the resources to put 5-6% of people over 75 in hospital beds at the same time. Need to spread it out.

If it's like the flu, the 1918 flu epidemic may be instructive. Philadelphia had only 118 sick with a parade about to happen. Docs warned to cancel the parade, but newspapers would not print the warnings, and the city went on with it. 200,000 attended.
Within three days, every bed in 31 hospitals was filled. Within a week, more than 45,000 people in Philadelphia were sick. Within six weeks, more than 12,000 Philadelphians were dead.
St. Louis canceled its parade, closed schools, and discouraged large social gatherings. More than 12,000 people in Philadelphia died from flu, while the death toll in Saint Louis did not rise above 700.
What happens if parades aren’t canceled during pandemics? Philadelphia found out in 1918, with disastrous results.

Except children are commonly exposed to the Coronavirus every year. It is the most common realities virus in kids. This is a new strain of it, but it also why kids seem to be more resistant to it.

The late, great Big Dave of Coca-Cola Friday Night Football did all of their commercials live, on air during the broadcast.
The best one ever was for Eagle Pest Control..
"Listen, we all know bout dem rats and roaches you got crawling round you house.
Well you gotta call my boy Danny at Eagle Pest Control.
And Dannny gonna come over and fix you up and if he can't, lemme tell you podnuh, ain't but one thing left.
You gotta burn you house down and just start all over."

RIP Dave

Social distancing and telling people to stay put is not some kind of conspiracy or fear mongering by the media or experts. It's a basic tool that every country on the planet is now deploying to various levels, not just the US.
The problem is this isn't what the media is saying.
These are some of this mornings headlines.

What’s the doubling rate of China?
One more time, China took extremely drastic actions to contain the virus. Far more so than what we are doing here.
They blocked all the roads to Wuhan, welded people into their homes, incarcerated anyone who tried to get out, and sprayed down the streets with bleach every day for weeks. Are we going to do that here too?
Posted on 3/12/20 at 8:05 am to Street Hawk
Still only talking about a few thousand cases in a world with billions of people. You fear mongers really are something else.

It could be pure coincidence, but everyone I know who is out of their heads over this also happen to have extreme TDS. Just a casual observation I made over the past few days.

When I talk to people in person, no one seems worried about it and they dismiss it.
Come to the internet and mainstream media, and it’s mass hysteria.

What’s the doubling rate of China?
China welded people's buildings shut and tore up the roads so you couldn't leave your city - that's why it's not doubling in China
You wanna go that route or you wanna watch March Madness with your buddies from your couch while eating frozen pizza?
