Under exponential growth 500 cases grow to more than 1 million cases after 11 doubling times. Doubling times for various countries is in below table.

Comparing Coronavirus to the flu is idiotic. The flu doesn't spread exponentially as we all have developed some level of immunity to it over our lifetimes. No one has any immunity to the Coronavirus. We need to slow down the doubling rate so as not to overwhelm our Healthcare systems capacity, which can be catastrophic.

Social distancing and telling people to stay put is not some kind of conspiracy or fear mongering by the media or experts. It's a basic tool that every country on the planet is now deploying to various levels, not just the US.

I really think a thread like this needs to be stickied.

A lot of misinformation out there right now. Doesnt help that you have the stupid motherfrickers who think they know more than medical experts parroting the same stupid arse take about flu deaths.

Why did you leave out countries where the rate is slowing down?

Weird. It seems like its transmitted, prevented, and treated just like the flu. Difference is immunizations, and flu is still more worrisome and widespread. Seems pretty appropriate to compare to the flu, but adjust for slightly higher infectivity. Thanks for confirming the flu is appropriate comparison!

It’s hard to make fear kool-aid when you use the sugar(data) that doesnt taste as good in kool-aid.

There are medical professionals saying not to phallic, it's not going to be as bad as the fearmongers say. Which side is right?

ETA: holy typos, autocorrect. I left phallic just because it's funny.

You want to talk about it? You want to talk about the quarantine that China implemented that the WHO considered Barbaric?

You want to talk about 60 million people being essentially locked into their own homes?

You think thats gonna happen in the US, baw?

Because they got the virus earlier and they fought it by locking down cities etc. to control the spread and got it under control, the result of which is the slowing rate of spread. It’s really not that hard to understand. Every country needs to do some version of what China did it in Wuhan, however draconian it may have seemed at the time. They got it under control eventually. By implementing social distancing early, the US is trying not to get it to the state of Wuhan where you have to build hospitals in 7 days or treat people in the hallways and parking lots.

China isn't the only country where it has slowed down and then there are the countries where it has not exploded at all but keep beating that drum.

The fact that people can read this and still act like we shouldn’t be taking it seriously is unbelievable. Must have come from the same frickhead factory as rudy gobert.
