re: Names to watch for 2030 WC

He is 16 playing in the MLS, FWIW
If everyone posts American flags, will you get scared and go away?

Was the reaction the same for the other players that received the same remediation to a red card, like Ronaldo?
They are outraged for no other reason than it was a positive outcome for America. There is no rationalization with people like that. We see it domestically too.

Some, maybe. But your average sports fan isn’t going to be interested in soccer to a great extent until the competition here in the US is up to par. Is that ever going to happen? Who knows?
That and America has not had their Micheal Jordan of soccer.
If we had a player that is in the conversation for best in the world, we would see an influx of players and supporters.

My problem is we had an extremely solid case and still do, Trump just completely muddies the waters by getting involved due to the lack of transparency from FIFA
Your TDS is flaring up.
Go take a refreshing nap and reset to enjoy one of the best world cups in history.

People that talked shite about Trump getting involved are the same ones bitching that he got involved.
The same unhappy people are shockingly unhappy.

The announcers this tournament have been a bit disappointing. They have to been showing bias towards certain teams, especially the favorites IMO

I thought the refs have done very well this tournament not feeding into the BS and antics. This is the first game where I thought the ref was very poor in controlling the flow of the game.

One overlooked aspect with the red card is that the Bosnia players were not outraged or immediately asking for any card after the incident. In fact their caption was consoling Flo after the red was issued.
lol look at that old arse PC
re: FIFA's DEI VAR Ref Boots Germany

Watching the play I neveer thought the German player committed a foul on the keeper, rather he was standing and facing him, and the keeper made the move towards him. Then fell and embellished the contact. After reading the replies in this thread I can see why VAR and the ref made the call they did if that play was interpreted by them the way many in here also interpreted it.
And hearing from Clattenberg yesterday about how Fifa pre tournament decided that any movement from a player towards a keeper is an automatic foul, it seems they used that verbage to determine the outcome.
The falling to embellish contact is a stretch.
Keepers have too much to worry about to embellish in that situation. Bodies moving, man marking, angles, ball trajectory.
I don’t think any keeper is thinking “If I get impeded, I’m going to fall to make it look worst, but maintain good enough position to recover and make the save if the is not awarded.”
I can see them flailing their arms, but not falling.

I disagree. The German player’s path was away from the ball and directly into the keeper. The keeper was knocked to the ground. Although the keeper was able to recover to his feet, he was in poor position and had little time to react to the header. If he wasn’t impeded, he had a much higher chance to make the save.
They are very useful, but they don’t have to make them look like bras.
re: When is soccer going to do something about the flopping?
Posted by Seeker on 6/26/26 at 9:37 pm to tigercraig
I disagree. It isn’t perfect, but I think FIFA has taken many steps to,improve it.
They don’t stop the game every time someone falls down.
Most of the time, they continue play so the player either gets up or they basically play a man down.
Players can get a yellow for obvious flopping.
The days of the stretcher crews have disappeared.
If a players needs to leave rh3 field, they can sub (if they have one) or have to wait to,come back in, basically causing their team to play with a man down.

Can we do a citizens exchange? I’m being serious.
Both countries vet who is applying. America brings in people who appreciate and want to come to our country. The other country gets people who no longer want to be here.

I heard the same
Has anyone noticed there is an over representation of non-white kids paired with the teams/players?

Probably not, and we have a deep enough pool of keepers that he was never really a priority.
We have a bunch of mid quality keepers, which is a shame because high level keepers was one of our staples.
