re: Random draft thoughts - Seeker
I hear you, I just don't understand what point you are trying to make. When you say "they are the type of player..." What makes their chances to have an extended NFL career any less than any other day 3 pick? ...

re: Random draft thoughts - Seeker
You mean like most late round picks? Of course it is more likely than not that they have short careers. The percentages are stacked highly against them. Plus they happened to be drafted by a pretty stacked team. They play for a coach that has historically ignored when and where a player was added to...

re: There was a method to the Saints’ draft madness. Really. - Seeker
I also think it is interesting, when speaking about building a profile of a player, that both Ireland and Payton referenced twp parent households as a part of what they look for with a player. I wonder how many of our draft picks, this year and last, fit this criteria. ...

re: 2018 OL depth chart - Seeker
Don't forget about Cameron Tom. The team is very high on him. They activated him tot heir 53 so he wouldn't get poached off the practice squad. Right now I would agree that Peat backs up Armstead and Bushrod fills in for guard. Ideally I think they would like to flip Ram over to LT and plug in s...

re: 4th Round: Rick Leonard, OT, FSU - Seeker
How does this even matter? If we took Clapp in the 4th and Leonard in the 7th, would it have made any bit of difference? We had a hole at OT. Not just because of the lack of a backup OT, but because we play a significant amount of snaps in our Jumbo package. He will get the opportunity for early...

re: Rick Leonard and the other OT's still on the board - Seeker
As quoted, he had many more injuries aside from a concussion. Regardless, without knowing for sure that it was a factor in the Saints and other teams passing on him, hard to ignore the injury history, particularly given our past experiences with drafting players with them. ...

re: Rick Leonard and the other OT's still on the board - Seeker
[quote]Crosby is a big-bodied tackle prospect with a strong anchor and a mean streak as a run blocker. He was poised for a great junior year before injuries caused him to miss all but three games. He missed the opener due to injury, started the next two games at left tackle but suffered a broken lef...

re: Payton is obviously sold on Taysom Hill - Seeker
This point of view is completely nonsensical. We traded up this year to 14. That put us in a position to draft Lamar freaking Jackson. Next years class looks to be worse at QB than this years class. So how did we hamstring ourselves exactly? We put ourselves in a position to not draft a shitty QB? ...

re: 4th Round: Rick Leonard, OT, FSU - Seeker
Eh maybe, but mostly because no one knows who he is and are going off what others ranked him predradt. However I really didn’t think about the need for a 3rd OT in jumbo packages before the draft. We really lacked depth at the position and we use 3 OTs pretty frequently. Plus with Armstrad always hu...

re: Value of the Trade - Seeker
I don’t think you are correct. If you use a future pick for a pick in the same year, for example using the Kamara trade in which we gave up a future 2nd to acquire a 3rd that year. We gave them a higher round pick to offset the decreased value of using a future pick therefore helping to balance the ...

re: Biggest downside to trading up - Seeker
Lamar Jackson would not have been a viable option if Drew was to get hurt. He is more raw as a QB than Davenport as a DE. So if Drew does get hurt, we are toast anyway. However Davenport gives us an impact player now with huge upside. Assuming that we are picking in the second half of next years...

re: Value of the Trade - Seeker
From my understanding, it is universally accepted that you half the value of future picks based on where you are picking that year, so: #27 - 680 Next Years First: 340 #147: 32 Total - 1052 #14 - 1100 So we actually were +48 points for the trade. ...

re: What's worse: draft day or gameday chicken little's? - Seeker
Games. There are more of them. Draft day chicken littles’ just repeat what someone else wrote/said. They then take people’s responses to their negativity and repeat them to others so they sound smarter than what they really are. They are annoying, but obvious to spot. Game day chicken littles ar...

We need to improve our red zone and third down efficiency, two areas that we struggled at last season. A TE would go,a long way to address both areas with one pick. ...

re: Shutdown Corner Commentary: The price the Saints paid for him is insane - Seeker
I really don't see it. The talking heads weren't calling the trade a "huge price" while they were hyping the Saints taking Jackson. We had a back end 1st round pick this year and more than likely a back end 1st round pick next year. Hell the Jets gave up 3 high 2nd round picks to move 3 spots in...

re: Winners and Losers from Round 1 - Seeker
And he would have not have seen the field for at least 2 years. It is absolutely ridiculous to listen to the criticism that the Saint are getting for this pick. The Saints are in win now mode: So they should have picked a project QB that won't help them win now. The Saints took a raw DE wit...

re: Consolidated Draft Grades For Davenport So Far - Seeker
People are so dumb. Davenport was pretty much the consensus 2nd best DE in the draft. Jackson is more raw as a QB than Davenport is as a DE. If we are in "win now" mode, how is this pick worse that taking Jackson, who would have sat for 2 years? Davenport will see the field a lot this year. It c...
