It’s crazy seeing the difference in attitude on hurricanes for Floridians vs South La and SE Tx.
More transplants from other regions in Florida, even in the panhandle. They will learn.

Cedar Key water level is now 7.41 feet above the predicted tide. High tide is in 90 minutes.

Orlando looks like it's getting a band. Flights into MCO must be experiencing some wind sheer, I've seen quite a few flights doing go-arounds on landing including this united flight from chicago which has attempted twice to land
UAL 2113
MCO
Dallas, Philly on AA, Providence on Southwest, Chicago on United all have at least one go around.
Providence made it, some flights are still landing successfully like the 757 from ATL on Delta

If the insurance issue that someone mentioned then he was doing I guess what he was supposed to??
I posted that, but he should have started four days ago to get it inland. He has some culpability.

Flooding in the bay area is going to be as bad as it’s ever been I’m seeing spots flooded that never do The ones that regularly flood are fricked
How’s the area around the port? Specifically the shipyards right there?

The 2 hurricanes in the La/Tx area were Cat 1 and Cat 2 all the way and most people in these threads were getting the hell out of there. Seems like Floridians moreso feel like they can ride out a storm and it’s a damn Cat 4.
I live in ground zero for Francine and I knew less than 10 people that left.
Had it been a 4 it would have been a much different story though.

Another mesovort inside #Helene’s eye bites the dust and we’re down to 3.
Notice how much more #Helene’s central pressure has fallen between the last 2 passes.
One thing that can really hasten the mesovort merger process is increasing the background flow viscosity. #Helene getting closer to land where friction is much higher is probably helping it intensify here in that regard.
Some idealized studies have even suggested that eyewall thickness can also play a role in determining mesovortex wavenumber inside the eye, with thicker eyewalls tending to be more stable and receptive to lower mesovortex wave numbers. Frictional convergence into the northern eyewall may be impacting in this manner too perhaps by increasing the thickness of the northern eyewall (thereby affecting the mesovort wavenumber & intensity of #Helene).

As someone who rode out Ida in New Orleans it just seems crazy to me that anyone would want to stick around for this shite. The constant beating of the wind might be one of the scariest things you experience in life.
Perhaps related to the expectations of government response?
Florida has bridges blown down and replaced within weeks. LA seems to take years to rebuild 20 foot bridges over creeks.

In Marietta what time are winds expected to be the worst tomorrow?

Was Helene even a thing four days ago?
From my POV, if you weren’t tuned into TD, this thing might have crept up on some people
