I have a friend heading to louder than life in Kentucky right now. I would not want to be at a festival for the storms that come from this thing.

Wife and I are doing Southstar this weekend. Fairly sure this thing is gonna move directly over Huntsville at some point. Or at least clip it.

What we get in north-central AL will depend, I think, entirely on how far north it can make it before starting to loop back west. The storm will have opened up to the south by then and if it gets far enough North before the turn, to where the axis puts the clearing more over us we may not be washed out. If not, we could see 5" of rain or more.

Unfortunately, I think NE AL will get healthy amounts no matter what, which could wind up being a problem for the Sand Mountain folks.

Because we have a non refundable vacation, so we gonna do what we have to do.

Storm will be past but not sure how the roadways will be or which detours may be available, but guess we will FAFO
Good luck.

Katrina's effects inland:
Our boat was at Eden Isles and we drove down just after the replacement I-10 bridge was up.

Mississippi had massive damage from Meridian on southwards. They had the interstate open, and the most damaged guardrails had been removed. The guardrails that remained were all damaged, every last one, with multiple chunks of metal knocked out of ALL of them.
Tree damage was snapped off pine trees, again ALL of them.

Barges were lifting entire houses out of the Eden Isles boat basin. Our boat survived in the boat chowder at the east side of the basin. The buildings were a sea of blue tarps on the roofs.

We carried fuel with us. And food.

Friends over in Mississippi close to the coast had never had water damage, but got it because the rainfall in the Wolf River Basin was so massive that its flood came through their first floor.

The only available motel rooms were east of Tuscaloosa.

Just to give you a memory of what destruction happened far inland.

Dude was responding to someone who thought he'd still be able to make his easy family trip from Louisiana to Disneyworld on Friday, and 08 jumps in to berate HIM for trying to stress how unlikely that would probably be as "coming across like a little kid."

not projected to touch ATL until Friday afternoon.

Sure, other than Tropical Storm force winds are predicted to get here Thursday at 8:00 PM.

At 1 pm Friday afternoon, it will be in North Tennessee, but yet, it will not have touched ATL.

Friday afternoon.

looks pretty smart to me.. if a tree doesn’t fall on it first..

I’ve always wondered why people don’t get a custom pool liner to wrap around their house when you are at risk of flooding.. almost like a skirt or bubble wrap.. i’m sure there are hurdles, but seems like it’s doable.

All that work and a 3” width pine tree branch will stab the house and cause all the damage needed.

That sort of reminds me of Katrina warning that was given. So scary.

We haven’t gotten the “if you don’t evacuate please write your name and SSN on your arm so your body can be identified” wording quite yet

I know… my husband was deployed to LA and then MS for rescue efforts and any and all kinds of assistance. Don’t need to remind me… couldn’t speak to him for 6 weeks. I’ve had my personal experiences let me tell ya.

Idiots in our neighborhood are putting sandbags around drains to keep pinestraw from clogging them.

Looks like I’ll be riding around tomorrow picking them up before the storm hits.

Assuming that can work at all his error is the placement. The straps are toward the top of the roof

They should be towards the bottom. If your roof blows off it peels off from the edge first towards the top because the wind gets underneath the edge.
