I saw somebody get shot on Government Street (Baton Rouge) back in 2009 or so. Heard the shot, saw his body drop and as I drove by there was a pool of blood forming around his body.

I had to slow down because cars were flying out of that gas station with little regard for oncoming traffic.

I could only fixate on the guy dropping that I couldn't recall what the shooter looked like or wore so I didn't even bother to call the police. I thought for sure it would be in the news but it wasn't.

How would there be a good story to share of someone dying?

Oh Yes. Not sure which is worse. Watching someone you love die slowly of natural causes or having a dear friend be taken from you immediately by violence.

Oh wow, is that a story that you can share?

Sure.

I was visiting a cousin years ago and as I was about to get into the car to leave, we heard gunshots from across the street. We look in that direction and see a man standing over a woman in her driveway, just shooting repeatedly into her chest. The most vivid memory I’ll keep from seeing that is the woman’s bright yellow shirt turning red with blood.

He pumped probably 5 or 6 bullets into her then ran away. He had been dating her sister and was pissed when she wouldn’t tell him where she was so he shot and killed her.

Someone wrapped their car around a tree in my front yard doing about 100 mph one night. Looking at his tire tracks in the grass before he hit the tree, it looked like he was on track to run into my bedroom, so I guess it was good the tree was there.

One of his family members called me about a year later asking about it. His life insurance didn't want to pay out because the police report didn't explicitly say he had a seat belt on. The way that car was tore up, I doubt a seat belt would have made any difference.

It’s typical practice for life insurance companies to deny the claim if you die in the course of committing a felony. Not wearing a seatbelt is not a felony, only a misdemeanor. That must’ve been one hell of a crappy life insurance company.

Aren't you Mr. Compassionate.

You shouldn't comment on subjects that you have no knowledge.

Aren't you Ms. Dumbass.

Do you realize that I did compressions on a loved one that I knew had expired for the sake of my grandparents and let the MDs pronounce?

God, you are a dumbass!

BTW: I have many friends that are EMTs. They call it the meat wagon as well. Carry on.

That’s terrible. Falls are a quick way to die unexpectedly at home. I myself am guilty of not being conservative enough with ladder use at home.

At 15 found my grandmother dead on the floor, eyes wide open. She was mostly wheelchair bound. The night before I found her, she had gotten out of chair to get some grits out of the pantry. Evidently she lost her balance, fell, and cracked her head on the floor. The paramedics had to “peel” her off the floor. Being the oldest kid, I had the displeasure of cleaning up later.

I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. Not even the worst liberal.

Walked in the bathroom at school after a kid had just committed suicide. Blood, brains, and the smell was awful. Very uncool.
Watched my father die after a two year bout with colon/liver cancer. Very uncool.

See my boss get bucked off his horse. I was across the pasture. Didn't see him get up so I rode over to check. He was on his back eyes wide open snoring like motherfricker. I thought he was joking at first. His head had hit a small lump of concrete in the pasture when he fell. He was dead before the ambulance got there. I had to keep the bulls from trampling over him while waiting.
