I saw somebody get shot on Government Street (Baton Rouge) back in 2009 or so. Heard the shot, saw his body drop and as I drove by there was a pool of blood forming around his body.

Was this at the Subway by BRCC? I was across the street when someone got shot and killed there but I didn’t actually see anything. It was definitely in 2009 also.

I saw a guy get killed by the car in front of me at Lobdell and Florida about 12-15 years ago.

Also witnessed a guy get shot in the head in Key West when I was about 12 years old. I'm not sure if he died or not but likely so. It was point blank.

The worst was the 2 year old boy I pronounced dead.

He and grandpa were watching a movie together and grandpa fell asleep. Kid wandered outside and fell in the lake. Found my neighbor floating an hour later. Kid was on life support until his dad could come visit from out of state. We turned off the pressors, put him in his dad’s arms, and then pronounced him dead as his heart immediately stopped. I didn’t even know what to say, I was just so lost for words. I was tearing up and could only muster “I’m so sorry, y’all” before trudging out the room to give the family their privacy. Cute little blonde hair, blue eyed kid. I’ll never forget his face.

Yes, many times...

Worst was I intubated an 18 month girl, in the emergency room, who the mom’s boyfriend beat to death. Scumbag mom actually took up for the boyfriend.. NOPD took them both to jail from the hospital..

Ran a hospice for 2 years....hard to count the number.
It usually just is. Not a big production.

Weird. Just today my son’s friend was working a construction job somewhere in NOLA and saw someone get shot and killed. Like actually saw it go down.

What year was that? I was big into road riding/racing in the early 2000’s. Pretty small community then. I remember when a big group ride in Louisiana was taken out. Sickening.
I quit shortly thereafter...no way I’d ride now with all the texting.

Peace be with you. Not sure I could handle that.

I knew the 17 year old boy that got killed in that group.

Baton Rouge drivers have only gotten worse since then.

I was on a cruise in the late 90s and the first stop was Montgomery Bay, Jamaica. We got off the boat that morning and were going to a private beach. The beach wasn’t open yet so we walked down the street to a public park with a rock jetty that stuck out into really beautiful water. I went about half way out on the jetty to see if I could see some fish or stingrays and saw a dead body instead. Realizing what it was and not wanting to get caught up in a murder investigation in a foreign country I went back the way I came and pretended I didn’t see it. In the cab ride back to the boat the news was talking about the body that was found.

Back when I worked for a railroad, I saw the aftermath of man that had laid on the train tracks and was run over. His intestines were stretched probably 40 or 50 feet behind him. I almost stepped on his cut off foot. Strangely I wasnt very affected by it. It really messed up the engineer for a few days though.

Watched 2 family members die and having been in the emergency services business for over 34 years, I've lost count of the dead people I've seen. Several burned, many more in auto accidents, over doses, and one torn apart in an industrial accident.

A whole goddamn bunch of them. Spent 30 years in EMS and a couple years in Iraq. Not sharing stories.

I had to identify my fathers body as next of kin after him being in a lake with Gators for 2 days.

I still regularly wake up from it quite regularly. Kind of never leaves you it seems. Was 14 years ago now.
