Hit a coyote on the way to camping at Albert Pike in Arkansas years ago. He did a half gainer off the front left quarter panel and slid up the hood coming to a rest at the passenger side window. Girl with me up front freaked out. I couldn’t help but start laughing at her and she got pissed.

I did once at night. Black dog was running after a car in the opposite lane, darted in front of me. I never checked up, never saw it. I took my wife and kids home and went back to let the owner know. When I got back, he had it loaded in a wheelbarrow and I just kept going.
The “when it rains it pours” moment of the story is that it was a night where auburn lost in dramatic fashion to Georgia. I listened to the end of the game minutes before getting back to his house. The guy was a huge auburn fan, auburn flags everywhere, auburn mailbox. Bad night for him.

First day getting my driver’s license I borrowed the family Nova to go to a friends house.
On the way back hit a dog that ran into the side of the car. The dog yelped, and hauled boogie to the back of his house. I stopped and the owner who was out front of the house did not seem concerned at all said “Don’t worry, it happens all the time”.
My license was less than 2 hours old.

I guess now my nightmare will be coming back. Thanx man.

Yep, dark street, middle of the night, knocked on doors and found out who it was only for the resident to tell me I'm a murderer. At that point I was tired, frustrated, and feeling guilty, so I gave her one or two times lashing out. Third time, I asked her why a dog was outside in the middle of the night, and that shut her up.

I work for the railroad. I run over every animal you can possibly think of every single day.
Dogs & cats are the worst bc many of them will try to run away from you intead of just jumping out of the way. Sad.
Raccoons are probably the best at getting the f out of the way. I'm sure I've hit one before but it's very rare.
Owls just sit there on the rail & do nothing. No attempt to do anything. Its very strange.

Yes, two dogs and one deer in 45 years of driving.

I've never but when I was a kid my Mom killed a cat. That sucker climbed near the engine and got whacked by the fan. It was gruesome but we still made it to TG&Y.

Never killed a dog, but I’ve hit a rooster, possum, coyote, kangaroo and a wombat with a car.

No. But there are dogs near our house in the country that relentlessly chase cars. I will one day hit one. I figure that’s Darwin at work.

I hit what I assume to be a dog one night heading to church in Brusly. Never even saw it but something hit my car and I heard a bark/yelp. I stopped and got out and looked around but didn’t see anything, so I assume I just clipped him. I felt bad about that for a long time.
I did run over a cat one day though. Was driving on my street and it darted out as I passed and ran under my car. I wasn’t even going very fast but I let off the gas and hit the brakes a little (didn’t want to slam them on), but was too late. I saw it in my mirror that it was thrashing and convulsing in the road so I got out to check on it and potentially take it to a vet. But when I walked up to it I noticed its head was completely flattened, and the thrashing was its death throes. I felt like shite for months after that one.

Few years ago I was on Highway 16 going through Carthage and a yellow lab puppy ran out in front of me. I hit it. There was no way I could avoid it and it still makes me angry that someone who lives on a highway wouldn’t think to maybe keep a clueless puppy better secured

Once. Going 75mph down I85. Very sudden and no time to swerve. It was a lab mix best I could tell from the half second I saw it before I hit it. The dog never felt a thing. My front end was messed up and my radiator was cracked and leaking coolant.

Yes, a stupid Australian Shepherd that caused me to wreck back when I was 21 years old, fishtailed and hit a culvert going about 50 mph. POS dog owners didn’t even come check on me.

Once, this was back in the late 90s. I was driving to work traveling about 65-70 MPH. A Golden Retriever ran out right in front of me. It was so close I didn’t even have time to react before I hit it. Messed up the front of my truck and I felt terrible for killing someone’s pet.

I only run over BLM protesters when they try to block the road.

My sister came home for a visit from Iowa, the state. She brought some ugly arse beagle with her. Well, it was summertime and I was working for a electric contractor and had to leave early, I was working in another town 1/2 hour away. This was the summer before my senior year in H.S. Backed out of the garage, blump, blump, and no more beagle.

A couple when I was in my teens in the late 80’s but people don’t let their dogs roam free as much today.
