Yea. It’s inevitable so might as well accept it no reason to worry about it

Memento Mori, I don't think about it all the time or dread it happening. Acceptance sure, everything dies. That's why you can't waste a day. Sure you have to work, but have purpose. Enjoy your kids, friends, food, but if you want to enjoy them longer make sure you're taking care of yourself.

If your end comes by means of car wreck or freak illness then it is your time. God wills it.

I don't worry about things outside my control. We are all going to die so I am at peace with it.

Something else that bothers me is that I chose to have kids, dooming them to existential dread and the eventual misery of death. Life is beautiful and I hope they live lives worth living. But they exist because of me, and they might suffer for it.

I was diagnosed with cancer a little over a year ago. Was a type that only surgery could cure. I’m fine now, but I distinctly remember not being worried about dying. It was very strange. I think we’re all equipped with the ability to go into a state of calm about it. Very strange looking back on it, but it definitely is true.

I do not fear death. I have watched both my children grow into adulthood, start their careers, get married and have all the grandkids they plan on giving me. I am at ease knowing they both chose great partners and have established themselves well in the careers. I have been successful in my career and have everything in place for my wife to be taken care of if something happens to me. I have had great experiences in life, have traveled some and seen some lots this great world has to offer.

Most importantly, as a Christian, my soul and mind is at peace knowing I will spend eternity in the presence and grace of my God.

Doesn’t mean I’m ready to go today or that there are not still things I would like to see or experience just that I will be at peace when I am called home.

My fear is that I experience either an accident or health condition that leave me here in an incapacitated state and that I become a burden on my family.

I was not supposed to make it to 18, yet here I am several generations later.

When the man upstairs is done with me it is my hope I get called home but for now I keep plugging along till I do what I was put on this Earth to do.

The only thing that really bothered me was the idea of my wife and kids being left out in the cold if I died prematurely, especially since I travel a lot for work.

I loaded up on life insurance and don’t panic as much when we hit turbulence these days. It will catch you one way or the other.

My dad told me on his 84th birthday that it would probably be his last. He knows his brain is shutting down. He seems to have made his peace with things. I feel like my last dog kinda went the same way. We both knew her last walk was her final walk. It was peaceful enough.

This bothers me far more than death.

I have no fear of it. God will keep me alive until He is ready for me and then take me home.

Unfortunately I am “on the clock.” I was diagnosed back in August with a stage 4 terminal cancer. Been taking chemo treatments to buy me some extra time on earth to get my affairs in order. Went from about 8 months to about 18 months thanks to the chemo. I will miss my family and friends. I just made 61. If there is a positive in my situation, it’s the fact that its a very aggressive type cancer. When the ongoing meds stop working, I will go fast. Minimal suffering for me and my family.

Yes...my future is not here. I have punched my ticket to be with the Lord. Nothing else truly matters beyond that really.

Been near death, long ICU stay and months living in a hospital, I changed my life considerably after that. New degree, new career, let the little shite go.
