Ole Miss Chancellor Glenn Boyce Sends Message To Students Ahead Of LSU Game

Ole Miss Chancellor Glenn Boyce sent a message to students this week ahead of Saturday’s highly anticipated matchup against LSU in Oxford.

With plenty of attention surrounding Lane Kiffin’s return to Ole Miss and a hostile atmosphere expected at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, Boyce addressed the student body ahead of the Top-10 SEC showdown.

Dear students,

There’s nothing like a fall football weekend at Ole Miss, and this year’s SEC opener on Saturday, September 19 is bringing more excitement and national attention than prior years.

ESPN College GameDay and a significant national media presence will be on campus. We are prepared for large crowds, and you will notice increased traffic and congestion, and a larger presence of event staff and law enforcement to help everything run smoothly.

Rivalries are a large part of SEC football, and we see it on full display through our passionate fanbase. But even when emotions are heightened, we must not lose sight of who we are as students and fans. As a part of this university, you represent something far bigger than a Saturday football contest.

How we carry ourselves this week, whether we’re cheering in the stadium, walking across campus or welcoming visitors into the Grove, reflects on our entire university.

Here’s the standard we expect to see from our campus community:

-Respect fellow fans, visitors and our campus.

-Look out for each other, be accountable for your actions and make decisions that keep everyone safe.

-Represent Ole Miss with pride and positivity.

-Support our student-athletes by showing up early, getting on your feet and cheering so loud that the Vaught shakes!
