I used to work with a young lad that could deadlift over 1,000 lbs. this dude was brut strong.
Now this is the sort of post I know and love about the OT.
I'm surprised we haven't gotten a "used to deadlift 1150 in high school, but I tweaked my back, so now I just do reps" post yet.

Benni
I miss that crazy fricker. I know he tore his hamstring and had a couple other nagging injuries, but he hasn't competed in anything in awhile.
His love of eating all the wrong stuff may have finally won out and he just said to hell with it.

Benni's raw 1015 under powerlifting rules is an underrated lift.
Between Thor, Maddox and Ray Williams probably being back on the gas after his child was born, it could be a really interesting year for strength sports.

I might, and this is one biiiig might, be able to get 800 off the floor. But that's 250lbs more than I've ever tried.
I can't imagine doing double that. For reps.

I think those aren't really his brothers.
This is really his father and grandfather, though. His mom's like 6'8" tall too. They're a family of fricking giants. Just look at this picture and remember that is a normal full sized couch they're standing in front of.

I've pulled 530 and I doubt I could move 800.
That's what's silly about this. I was happy when I pulled 530 at 200 lb bodyweight and Thor's going to pull over double what I do at over double my bodyweight.
If an alien landed and saw he and I next to each other, the alien would probably assume we were from different species.

He's trying to break the deadlift record Eddie Hall set not long ago of 500 Kilos by attempting to lift 501 Kilos.
That is an amazing amount of weight to be cranking up off the floor and Hall actually blacked out when he finally let the weight down and suffered a nose bleed.
It won't be as easy for him due to his height, being almost 7 ft. tall and weighing in around 425 lbs. with a longer way to go to make the lift count. Hall is 6 ft. 3 in. and weighs around 410 with much shorter legs than Bjornsson AKA "The Mountain".

Not up on my strong man cast of characters..but didn't the last guy that lifted that much (British guy) go blind for a couple of days due to blood vessels bursting under the strain? Frankly that's why im not giving it a go....the risk reward ...

Prolapse imminent
Not anymore. Most male powerlifters over 40 are using a butt plug-like device when squating or dead lifting to reinforce the pelvic floor and help prevent prolapse in competitive events and personal maxes.
Women are several times more likely to suffer either rectal or vaginal prolapse than men though and frequently wear compression under garments similar to a bench press shirt to aid against prolapse.
It's not the 80's anymore with these high tech fabrics. Prolapse during these events is exceedingly rare.

Eddie Hall. Yeah, he has a whole list of extreme side effects from lifting 500kg. I'm of the belief about half of it is bullshite put out to bolster his image. He had profited nicely off that lift and its legend.
Edit: I'm in no way faulting him for it. He has used that lift as a springboard for his post-strongman career. It has also served the sport and other competitors well.

I agree with this. He definitely plays it up, but I don't blame him. It's an incredible lift very few people thought was possible, and he's provided for his family because of it.
