I witnessed an air rescue in the Wind River Range several years ago. Guy took a bad fall and his protection didn't hold. Assessed onsite as a compound fracture of the lower leg and possible skull fracture. At the hospital it turned out to be a sprained ankle and a concussion. Better safe than sorry. People start making decisions based on cost and eventually somebody is going to die.

I can understand the skull fracture mis-assessment, but how do you mis-assess a sprained ankle for a compound fracture of the leg?

Want a real shock? Look up what they charge for anti venom shots for snake bites. It’s 100-150k a shot. Recently read a guy got bit by cottonmouth and needed 10 shots, was charged over 1 million dollars and had no insurance.
So it’s either die or be bankrupt
