GMC announces starting MSRP numbers for upcoming 2027 Sierra 1500 half ton truck

This is a (mostly) redesigned truck.
‘Pro’ is the steel wheels, entry level work truck. Denali Ultimate is the luxury model. These are 4WD crew cab prices.
Trim Starting MSRP
Pro $51,2958
Elevation $59,9958
AT4 $73,4958
AT4X $85,4958
Denali $76,7958
Denali Ultimate $87,8958
The new truck offers motorized center and passenger screens on higher trims.

I’m about to turn 60. I bought a new 2023 Tacoma a few years ago that I have two payments left on. I intend to ride that truck until one of us dies.
The nonsense with the truck pricing in the OP was and is my motivation for doing so. Completely out of control.

I love how the quality keeps going down and the price keeps going up. I remember when the work truck models went for less than $20k...not that long ago.

Just know this price is in no way based on the Cost of Goods. This price came from dudes in a Board Room saying “What’s the most you think we can charge for a work truck without people abandoning our brand completely?” Same way Apple prices the iPhone.
I am OK with it though. It’s Free Enterprise. The response should be one of their competitors introducing a $35,000 bare bones work truck to level the market. We will see.

They also announced they're dropping a 8.3L diesel engine in 2027, no word yet on pricing. Considering the current price of diesel, perhaps an ill-timed release. I'm still not sure who exactly jumps in a modern diesel truck and thinks "yep, I need more power". The current offerings are all in the range of ~500hp and 1000ft/lb torque.

Hotshotting, you need that power or your fuel mileage and wear on truck increases dramatically.
A bigger more powerful diesel would be a huge welcome.

That’s one response. The response I’d like to see is these GMC’s just sitting on lots in perpetuity.
