quote:

A new analysis of U.S. Census Bureau numbers by researchers at the news site 247WallStreet.com finds that 35% of Americans ages 18-34 still live at home with their parents.
quote:

The rate of younger adults living with their parents varies widely from state to state. In a few states, less than 20% of residents 18 to 34 live with their parents. In others, more than 40% remained at home,” the analysis said.
sounds like fake news to me.

Doesn't surprise me. Houses are expensive.

18 to 24? Not that big a deal. Over 25? Now that’s a problem.

They might want to break that down some. Something tells me the percentage of 18-21 year olds living at home is a bit higher than the percentage of 31-34 year olds.

I'm sure no other generation's college aged kids lived with their parents.

They should split that stat out.

Show us 18-25 and 26-34 as separate categories.

And 18 year olds aren't millennials.

Many young men these days live in a seemingly perpetual child like state.

Living at home with mom and dad would certainly be the physical embodiment of that.

You may need to look and see when the last of the millennials were born.

30% of the population is college aged and only 35% of the population live with their parents so I'm going to call this a win for millennials

Even though almost half of the population isn't even millennials

About 70% of HS graduates go to college, and a pretty big % don’t last more than a year or so. Not to mention you should have your own apartment. I wouldn’t call this a “win”.

When you’re in college?
Yea I had that. And when the semester ended, I went back home.

Would that mean I lived at home from 18-22?

I didn’t stay around in Columbia all year around

Which is why I said college aged.

In a perfect world, but what do we want to bitch about today kids living with their parents or taking on a ton of debt to move out because for a large number of kids they have to pick one.

The fact is many parents of these kids were completely irresponsible raising them so they have no college fund or their parents can't help them out starting work after high school so they have no choice but to live at home. If that's the case for a 19 year old, I'm blaming the parent, not the kid, most of the time.

And for the kids in college they're going to be counted as living at home because that's their permanent residence
