Don't worry in ten years it will be coming full circle.
45% of baby boomers have no retirement
I can excuse a young person for living with mom and dad far easier than a older person reaching retirement age without being fully prepared for it. At least the young person can claim legitimate ignorance on how the world works. By the time you’re close to retirement, you have no excuse unless you’ve been hit with some sort of unforeseen medical catastrophe.

I finished grad school at Georgia Southern in 2015 and my wife was just starting hers back in New Orleans. At 25 and 24 we moved in with my MIL/FIL in June. We both worked hard, saved up, and by December (We closed on Dec 23rd) we had our own house.
It was a pretty big "swallow your pride moment" but spending the six months there, we were able to buy a house much faster and easier than if we would have rented.

Look at this, I agree with you.

As long as they pay rent or their share of household expenses, it's the smart thing to do.

I'm more concerned with the large number of people making average salaries and buying $50K pickup trucks and $450K houses than millennials saving money living with their folks.

My parents always taught me you have 2 sides to every story. They also taught me that a half-truth is completely dishonest.
You and this board are cherrypcking the problem but not issues that lead up to it.
Look at college debt from 1970 to 2019 at LSU as a metric.
Then look at the economic situations from 1970 to 2019. There is a reason people are rejoicing about the economy under Trump.
Plus the gender imbalances are due to two obvious reasons.
1) Women typically earn more degrees than men and work culture of today prioritizes hiring women over men.
2) Marriage. Women marry at younger ages than men. Its not uncommon in certain regions (like the South) for women to marry shortly after high school. 2 incomes ensures they can live outside of their parents home.

How do they qualify for even a 90% loan? Even at my salary I only qualify for up too 405k, and that's with at least 10% down.
Not that I need a 405k home to begin with...
