the NHC does not provide a line, they provide a cone.
Yes, they do. Go to the "Warnings/Cone Static Images" And you will see a "Forecast Track Line" that can be toggled on and off. If it isn't the track line then why the hell is it called "Forecast Track Line" and why do they provide that option?

That CTCX is pretty spot on
I love these threads I come in and learn so much
What I find most intriguing is like everyone has a team.
They cheer for a specific channel
They cheer for a specific meteorologist
They even cheer for a specific track model
It’s like SEC Score Board in here at times

More like 40 miles. If the margin of error is that big, they need to stop representing the track with a line and just provide a 50-mile wide path.
The last NHC track I see that showed a path through Baton Rouge was from 1 PM Tuesday. It looks like that track would have had it in BR around midnight (~36 hours later). Actual location around midnight was probably 40-50 miles East.
The “eye” was like 75 miles wide at landfall as others have said.
My question for you, and others, is: what would you consider an acceptable margin of error 36 hours out?

keep updating the entergy map for the nola metro area and the outage map looks exactly the same now as it did 8 hours ago.
Lower 9 has power now. It didn't 8 hours ago.
Takes a long time to make significant progress

I'm still confused how they're saying the NHC whiffed because their line was 30 miles off (BR to Maurepas) but Katz was right when his line was 50 miles off (the Rigolets to Maurepas)

Jacquelyn Hotard is definitely the best looking parish president. I'm not linking a pic because they don't do her justice compared to how she looked on Fox just now.

So being more accurate means more ridicule?
You think they're psychic? The NHC needs to hire Kreskin? All things considered they were close enough.

NHC had it going through Baton Rouge early yesterday; big difference.
It's actually not that big a difference. Anyone who's been through these things can tell you all bets are off when it hits land unless it's a Cat3+ freight train.

Let's pause for a minute to think how or why this would be so inaccurate. NHC is under NOAA...what narrative have they been pushing?
Why do conspiracy theorists always stop just short of saying the punchline? Is it some kernel of doubt holding out in their brain? Some level of shame?
In any event, the answer is immigrants are using our pets to feed their young.

The area of miss is about the same as a miss of South Beach to Ft Lauderdale. Not that much.
Anyone not from South Florida would consider those two to be pretty close. But when you live in the area you think they are far apart.

Hey now, don't question the Great NHC. I know we know that fed gov organizations are wholly inept but the one exception is the Great NHC. Crazy but its true.
And we shouldn't push for better performance because they are doing as good of a job as possible so there's no room for improvements. In this one instance, big gov has nailed it. All the other gov outfits are trash; not this one though.

elec has held up to this point, so each minute it goes east, gives me more confidence that we may not lose power at all... which would be awesome
I would just like the world to know that the power went out in Dutchtown exactly 10 min after this post was made. It’s all your fault chRxis
