No, I'm not. But I also can recognize that the track has shifted what, 20 miles, and the eye of this thing is about 50 miles wide. Maybe more - it's really big. So the computer generated lines are referencing the likely path for the center of the storm, not any sort of projection about the magnitude of the weather events that occur within it.

You do realize the cone isn't one set width right? It widens the further you get from the time of the forecast. I can read a mapt too, and I'm well aware how those cone lines were superimposed on the map. Maybe try pretending you don't think you're the smartest person in the room and you might be able to figure it out.

This. Any power coming in underground feeds in above ground somewhere.

Why do they keep reporting Cat 2 with 100 mph winds? Every station showing 55 winds with 60 gusts. There are NO 100 mph winds.

Ehhhh, Midnight tonight while not the apocalypse but its not nothing. I don't know how accurate this NWS graph is, but the first location is 1088 and I-12 and not the lakefront.

The lakefront in Mandeville shown below is another story.

There rarely are

Highest recorded sustained winds are almost always like 20 mph lower than whatever the NHC says

Because to them it sounds cool. No way from the feed I’m watching in Houma that they’re getting anything near 100 mph.
