I always look at town names and try to figure out who they were named for.
Take “Bridge City,” for instance. Must have been named for Mr. Bridge.

Has anyone ever realized how much of a dump LC is from the I10 bridge east where it meets up with 210? You pass the old Harrahs parking garage graffitied and barely hanging on, an overgrown cemetery, 1 ghetto gas station, 1 fast food restaurant in the ghetto that you’re liable to get shot at while ordering, countless blue tarped roofs along with several dilapidated houses. Heck, you have drive past dead mans curve to finally see the nicest building east of the bridge (Eastwood Pentecostal). All the restaurants and gas stations of LC are off 210. Maybe that’s why Loves in Iowa is always so packed.
