First Buc-ee's outside Texas getting sued for low gas prices
Posted by TejasHorn

quote:
Oasis Travel Center LLC sued Buc-ee's Friday claiming their gas prices violate the Alabama Motor Fuel Marketing Act. When Buc-ee's opened its new location it set the price of gas at $1.79 and that it hovered around that point, violating the AMFMA by selling for under $2, according to the complaint.
quote:
The store opened Monday Jan. 21 in Baldwin County, Ala. with over 120 fueling stations, and is believed to be the largest convenience store in the state. Buc-ee's also plans to open another location outside of Texas this year in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Regulation of the free market at its finest. Force everyone to pay higher prices to load up the pockets of a few. Sue anyone that opposes

Oasis was going to get hammered when Buckee opened. Has nothing to do with fuel.

What?? Yall in bama need to look into why the price cant hit below this mark. Seems shady. it's been in the 1.90s for a bit in the dfw area.

Yep, that cheap gas totally hurts the public by saving them money
The only argument i could come up with here is that, by forcing lower prices on everyone, you could end up with lower quality gasoline. *
*I am all for lower gas prices, just trying to put an argument on the "public harm" side

"The granting of a temporary, preliminary and permanent injunction against Defendant will serve the public interest by prohibiting Defendant from continuing to engage in the type of unfair and predatory practice that the Legislature expressly found to be harmful to the public interest,"

This is how they describe low gas prices.
quote:
Oasis is alleging that Buccees is selling gas below cost, which per that particular statute, would be illegal, not that gas can't be sold for less than $2.
It is the same in Louisiana.
