Your premise is correct on the macro level. But it does not hold up when applied regionally, within limited borders. No one is going to care if CirkleK and Buc-ee's have the same market share in the southeast U.S. if Buc-ee's prevents local competition. And why would new competitors spring up to battle a giant when they can build in easier locations?
