A straight forward tax system would strip our elected officials of much of their power.

Has nothing to do with keeping the tax filing industry afloat.

You obviously can't think past the present. Or else you would realize all that I could post in answer to destroy your asinine response to my post.
And I'd probably get banned in the process so I'll refrain.
I can tell pretty much if I spent a week with you I would probably wish I was dead.
So no thanks dude.

Don’t want to get your check garnished? Pay your fricking bills.

Federal student loans will work with you depending on income but you still have to pay a token amount per month to them. Defaulting completely is just asking them to frick you straight up the arse, no lube, IF they can find you.

Just reading your quoted parts.

You're better than this.

What does City and State matter on Federal returns.

She wasn't cheated out of her money. Her EITC went to pay for her whatever the liberal frick her degree was in.

Tax refunds are a lifeline for many people. The average check from the IRS in 2019 so far is $2,795, which represents six weeks of income for the typical family in the U.S., and the largest cash infusion 1 in 3 households will see all year.

Odd way to describe an interest-free loan to Uncle Sam.

She got a refund for over $3,000? Seems to me like she should make enough to cover her billls including the student loan debt. Maybe she’s just terrible at making financial decisions. Maybe she needs to get her priorities straight.

I mean it would suck to have that happen if your not expecting it but as someone with a fair amount of student loan debt I think thats the best system if it's established that that's what it's going to. I wouldnt complain as long as it was established beforehand.

Looking at this without looking at the fact that 6 weeks of median household income is 61,372. 6 weeks of 52 weeks is roughly 11.5 %. I thought these progressives thought that was too low?

Cash infusion because a money grabbing federal government is taking that much interest free.

And pay your student loans, this won't happen.

I highly doubt it was a "refund" in that she was given back part of what she paid in. It's obviously a welfare payment in a fancy wrapper.

Worked a job in college with a girl who used to actually net like $1.75 for every dollar she earned when all her benefits were added in. She used to complain to me about how tough she had it, it's so hard to be poor, etc. I said well imagine how I feel, for every dollar I earn, I get about 80 cents that I have to spend on books, fees, groceries and rent. You get free food, free college, and Pell pays more than your tuition so you end up getting books and some cash.

Of course, she just kept complaining.

Cost of living.

She lives in one of the most expensive cities in the country.

She needs to move to a cheaper location she can afford.

Stupid people stop paying debt and then think it has just gone away with no consequences.

I say this as someone whose wife, while single, quit paying her student loans and then was shocked when penalties and interests added thousands of dollars in debt that didn’t go away.

That can work on a regular bill, which leaves a credit report after 7 years, but not with a federal student loan.

She owes around $80,000 in student loans.

Curious, they didn't mention her degree in the article.
