The hatred towards poor people is funny here. I admittedly didn't read this article, but did it say she was a junkie?
she chose to get student loans
She chose to have a baby out of wedlock
She chose to live in an expansive city
And it appears she chose to be homeless

If people are poor do to them deciding to be so, why should I feel sorry for her?

I sense that you wouldn't need to make any extra effort.

and, of course, she looks like a freak show

I think the feds should at most take half of a refund if you're making under $100,000 a year. The feds need their money, but people need their money too.

I don't know if any has said this but where is the husband err father in this situation? She got a worthless degree and now can't get a job in her field. I mean she could get a job to make ends meet but she won't settle, that would be beneath her.

In the past month she claims to have started a business as a tarot card reader.

Wonder if they offer benefits.

I am concerned that the child will suffer because her mom is a fricking loser.

Is that a skill she learned at whatever university she took out loans to attend?

It was in psychology so you could argue it helped her read people so she knew what to regurgitate back at them.

Lol. She's getting off easy.
If she owed a bank it would be worse.

Most likely, they aren't taking money that she overpaid and is getting refunded. They are, in essence, simply not giving her her EITC.

It wasn’t her money.

She is a theatrical dancer. Your link to her FB page had pics of her wearing fishnet tops with nips swinging in the breeze. Her dancer's body and background should be able to land her a gig at a local dollar ballet.

She also spent thousands on tats. It appears that bad decisions are around every corner, looking for her.

If I wasn’t worried that her child would suffer, I would be totally on board with this. It was not actually her earnings being refunded.

Follow up: How do we prevent irresponsible adults from having children in the first place?

No sympathy from me. Wise financial planning does not seem to be her forte.

Pay people for voluntary, temporary sterilization.

But it is awfully “Brave New World” like and do not know how that could be legal
