Goliath has maximum negative G's of -1.2. You're not staying in your seat if the restraints aren't down.

Yep. The whole thrill of Goliath is the negative G's you feel cresting the hills. It has no shoulder harness.

Son sitting next to him according to this interview, just awful.

The person being interviewed also says the souvenir camera caught the man hitting them as he fell out of his seat.

This coaster just has a lap/leg restraint, correct?

The pictures are taken at the end on much smaller hills.

The Superman ride relies on restraints almost completely. I remember being terrified the whole time because of it

I damn near had a panic attack because after the ride we were just dangling there waiting on the staff to check everyone in the train ahead of us. My restraints were so damn tight and I started to freak out because I couldn't move.

B&M has an impeccable safety record in the industry. At some point, something was bound to go wrong I guess, but this is just unheard of if it's actually a restraint failure.

Unless they've updated them, B&M uses mechanical restraints on their hypers. I know from personal experience every so often you'll feel it loosen to the next position (mine on Apollo's Chariot) but they're known to do that and no one's ever been injured.

The article said one died and four others were injured. How would others get injured?
I just heard this story on the radio - the passenger clipped several people behind him after he fell out, after he got done bouncing off of other passengers, he fell 200 or so feet to his death

The hills are not 200 feet where he fell near the end of the ride.

Also, while that guy isn't the biggest guy I've seen, I'm putting money on him being over the limits for that restraint system.

Goliath is a fun ride! However, you’re only held in be a triangle shaped latch that doesn’t even cover your entire legs.
