Passenger allegedly fell off of the roller coaster Goliath. Horrible.

Link doesn’t work.

Anyway, I suspect the number of incidents like this will only increase as we continue to cut costs to save a buck

From reddit:

quote:

I was next in line to get on Goliath. Someone did in fact fall out. The train pulled into the station, all the riders were distressed, and a man who was sitting next to the seat that failed was screaming that whoever was sitting next to him fell out. The seats restrain was completely unlatched and unlocked with no one in the seat. Very sad and surreal to see a train return with the seat up and unlocked while people are crying and yelling to get off.

If a restraint failed, that's massive. That's unheard of.

I’ll never have to worry about this

I’m deathly afraid of roller coasters . Not so much heights..

Ive never been on a roller coaster that completely relied on a restraint

Usually g forces keep you in seat. Restraints are just extra

Looks like it was a leg hold? I'm going to make a asshat guess and assume the rider was likely too big for the restraint and the employees failed to say something.

On this ride and many like it the drops lift you off of your seat. The lap restraint is all that is keeping you in your seat.

Goliath has maximum negative G's of -1.2. You're not staying in your seat if the restraints aren't down.

Looks like Six Flags has shut down all B&M hypers across their entire portfolio.

I was going to say this, centrifugal force usually pushes back its often not easy to raise your arms. But I'm sure there's certain places where theres little to none?

Didn’t someone in Orlando fall from one of those tower drop rides at a sketchy park a few years ago? Don’t remember if that was restraint failure.

Usually a part of the premium for paying for a nicer park is all the additional safety testing.

Now some people purposely prevent the lap bar from being pushed down by the attendant so that when they descend the hill they can float out if their seat against the lax bar for longer.

This is why I don't go on rides at the fair. I'm not trusting my life to a ride that was assembled by an otherwise homeless person that smells like cabbage and probably has more fingers than teeth (who, no doubt is likely missing some fingers).

That kid was too big for the restraints and should have not been allowed on. Th restraint was never engaged due to his size.

That was a gigantic dude who wasn’t properly locked into the restraints. They should’ve never let him on the ride.

I’ll never forget the sound from that video.

That would be the centripetal force - centrifugal force being the false force that makes us feel like we're falling outward attributable to the angular momentum outpacing the true centripetal force because the former has a quadratic component.
