they couldn't find a vein!!!! Can you imagine being minutes from certain death but instead getting a one year stay of execution?

I feel like they could just find a different nurse and try again tomorrow right?

medical personnel quickly established a primary IV line for Carruthers to be executed by lethal injection on Thursday, but they were unable to immediately establish a backup line pursuant to the state’s lethal injection protocol.

The team then continued to follow protocol but could not find another suitable vein. The team then attempted to insert a central line pursuant to the protocol, but the procedure was unsuccessful.

The couldn’t find a second vein

What’s the point of having 2?

Just one more story in a long and sordid history of the state bungling executions. It is truly amazing to me that a sizeable number of people who are convinced the government can't do anything correctly simultaneously thinks the government can execute people without error.....

Any info on why it's a fricking YEAR? Seems like that should maybe buy him an hour, or maybe a day or two max. But a fricking year??

This is why I would want a firing squad. You walk out, stand there, and then you’re dead.

It's just another $52000 for the state to keep him alive for another year, that is practically free.

On top of that...It should be broadcast live on TV or tape delay for the news.

One big dose of Morphine. Readily available, inject pretty much anywhere and overdose death assured. Your mind is in euphoria and you just quit breathing.

It most certainly can be done without error.

This would be the best thing to happen in this nation in a loooooonnnnngggggg time. Public executions were a major reason the rest of the civilized world has moved past the state killing people. The reason they are not public in the US is because they wouldn't last a year. It is understandable that soooooo many Americans long to live in a nation comparable to China, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Iraq and view people being killed but those sick fricks can buy a plane ticket and watch as many people killed as they can stomach and the rest of us won't live with the knowledge that the state has executed people, in our name, who were demonstrably not guilty of the crime they were executed for.

Yeah- about an hour. Use the successful IV to pump him up with saline. His veins will be easier to find and the second line can be used started.

Absolutely amazes me how many people in the US commit suicide every year, yet these fricking psychos do everything they can to stay alive and live in a 10x10 concrete box for 23 hours a day for as long as they can
