Epidemic: People who dont get up to speed merging on the freeway

Oh how I despise these counts you speak of

My biggest pet peeve.

And those that use their brakes on the merging ramp.

There's a really bad spot where 635 traffic merges onto the tollway and there's always an 18 wheeler or a Prius moving 35 mph on traffic moving 80 which causes wrecks consistently.

Not stereotyping but stereotyping and there are some finite demographics that are the worst offenders.

Females make up the majority of them.

I won’t name the specific subclasses within (Asian or African-American) because I’m not that kind of guy.

Sorry I couldn’t be more specific here.

I take the interstate everyday. It amazes me how many people do this.

Generally speaking, the slow-moving car is the primary catalyst for a slew of traffic issues, especially when merging.

Driving the Causeway, for instance, you always can tell there's a slow-moving car in the right lane (often well below the speed limit) because cars start to bunch as they have to slow down and change lanes.

And merging onto I-12 west from 190 in Covington, where 190 north and south traffic come together before the mile-long merge lane, is a nightmare most evenings because people refuse to merge correctly.

Braking is the enemy of merging properly.

My favorite is when people drive 10 mph under the speed limit. Love it.

Have a highway by my house where 90% of the time people drive 35 when its 45 mph.

I've lost count of the number of wrecks I've almost been in or seen almost occur because of this. It mostly seems recent. I've been driving just over 20 years and have never really noticed it until the past couple of years.

Another big “frick you” to the people that slow down to let them in.
