El CID was a raggedy assed place back when I was at lsu….and that was 40 years ago!

LV Collective is finishing a student housing project in the city I live in right now. They're aggressive and candidly are less concerned with the economics than other developers. This is highly likely to move forward.

We used to night swim at Embassy all the time. Going to have to get my group together for one last ride...or swim...
Posted on 5/1/26 at 11:48 pm to biglosdaddy
I was a night manager at the Embassy. Good times.

Embassy is NO MO! It was demolished and a new apartment is being built in its place.

People asking about how this is paid for and rich parents.
Certainly, there's a little of that. But don't forget TOPS. A lot of kids qualify for basic, so the $ saved (or which would have been borrowed) for tuition now goes to housing.
One of the reasons why undergrads at LSU have much nicer places than post-grad students.

I am amazed those still exist. Were there in the early ‘80’s when I was at LSU.
Posted on 5/2/26 at 9:38 am to Shorts Guy
Oh, El Cid. I lived and worked there in the mid to late 1980’s. Lot of great times and ownership was great folks.

Something has changed from the long ago.
With similar resources: I lived in a clapped out hovel outside north gate 40 years ago My nephew lived in a luxury condo complex 20 years ago. The new developments sound nicer still. Shifting priorities I guess.
