I tried to explain this to a leftist once that if Elon or Bezos sold all their stock it would immediately devalue the company and cost billions to the world making everyone poorer.

But they are convinced he has 900 billion just sitting there doing nothing.

what is it like?

Investments such as art, gold, crypto, stocks and the like. I read somewhere that most billionaires' net worths have a surprisingly small fraction of cash or liquid savings (often less than 5%). Their net worth is a value the market places on their investments.

I wonder what Elon’s liquidity is. That would be what part of his net worth can be turned into cash in less than 12 months.

Of course he could buy anything he wants regardless of liquidity because any finances would give him whatever credit he wants.

Just for the sake of clarity.

If Elon had 900 billion in cash, which I know he doesn't because he couldn't carry that much because he doesn't wear cool cargo pants, like me.......he could give one million dollars to 900,000 people.

check my math please.

I saw a post on reddit saying if he was a decent human being he would give every poor person in the US a million and fly all the citizens of war stricken countries here. There was like 90 likes to that post.

That family would have to work 11 million years to reach $970 billion.
