The risk of losing too much muscle mass can be detrimental to your overall health.

I'd encourage people to trust their own prescribers over any Tik Tok docs

Staying obese is likely worse. Plus there's this thing called strength training

I'm on the opposite side. Mandatory ozempic injections for people above a certain BMI/BF%. I'm tired of my health insurance being high to amputate your foot and pay for your STEMIs

Here is her bio. LINK

I never plan to take Ozempic but I thought this would be an interesting take for the OT to contemplate.

I can’t wait til you people get the well documented gut issues or cancer and complain that you’re still skinny fat with no muscle mass and look like shite

Perdue pharma and the Oxycontin sales force used to rely on this paradigm, too.

Obviously.

Docs who recommend drugs and shots for weight loss instead of a lifestyle change should be shot themselves.

First it’s lean body mass not muscle. Lean body mass is everything besides fat. Muscle is included but can include water. Muscles will atrophy in a large caloric deficit but they don’t know if it’s abnormal amount anyway. Also, women don’t want the same size calves as they did when they were 300lbs.

By dropping the weight, the benefits will outweigh any muscle loss for health anyway.

well ideally yea but better to lose weight using ozempic than remaining fat or dying young. not to mention you can lift weights and prioritize protein to mitigate muscle loss

the muscle loss happens not from the medicine but the huge deficit, lack of protein and lack of resistance training.
