I had to look this up because I knew nothing of this. But these charges surround her senate run in South Dakota.

So how are you getting a drug that is covered for pre diabetes covered? Just asking?

One tactic is research trials.

2021. Like a quarter million scripts.
2022. Over 5 million.
That’s a metric shite ton of new trials of a drug out in the market. Lol

My doctor told me it is not approved for use for weight loss, but doctors are just going rogue and prescribing it to anyone who is willing to pay. I was on Ozempic for three years to manage my diabetes and even though I’m not overweight, I didn’t lose a single pound, but I switched to Mounjaro earlier this year and I have dropped a little bit of weight and am almost never hungry. If I was going to be a rich douche and overpay for a weight loss shot, it would be that one.

Nope. These aren’t just weight loss trials. You could have “low” A1C that’s not even out of range and they can put you on it.

You are grasping. We are talking a tiny tiny fraction of total oriole on the drug.
And there are very few new trials.
5 million. If there were 100 new trials you aren’t scratching the total number.

And so are the patients who are suckered into regular visits and injections which is exactly what the doctor and pharma execs want instead of someone who takes care of themselves.
At about $1k a month the percentage of people staying on this indefinitely is small.
Some will change lifestyle some won’t. Many that lose large amounts of weight do make changes. Good for them.

Docs make sure insurance covers btw. You obviously don’t know what’s going on.
Nearly everyone I know who takes Ozempic or Mounjaro paid for it out of pocket. All are women who gained 40-60 lbs over the last 5 years. They went to an initial consult Dr visit, injected themselves weekly and went back to the doctor once a month for bloodwork and general checkup before the refill was prescribed.
Most were off the injections for weight loss after 6 months and now inject a small maintenance dose weekly. The majority of these women play tennis 3-5 times a week and continued to do so throughout their injections. Age range is 40-60 years old. All are extremely happy with their decision to take the injections and the weight they lost. Zero cases of gut issues or cancer.
ETA Going rate for out of pocket here seems to be $3200 for 4 months of prescription, needles and alcohol wipes, monthly Dr visits and weekly injections if you want them to do it instead of you.
This is obviously discussed a lot court side.

I'm on the opposite side. Mandatory ozempic injections for people above a certain BMI/BF%. I'm tired of my health insurance being high to amputate your foot and pay for your STEMIs
I'm not one to body shame anyone else- but morbidly obese pt's are part of the reason I am branching out away from the bedside. when 400lb pts is the rule and not the exception- it's a bit too much.

I actually think this has a lot to do with the hostility toward it. Just wait til they have a drug that makes you jacked without working out and has minimal known side effects.
