Nashville is only good for weekend/quick visits. Otherwise, it sucks lol.

born: New Roads, LA

might go mobile in retirement? or get a place on False River? I'm pretty focused on raising kids at the moment and haven't given it much thought

I lived in the same town in Missouri for my first 18 years. I've since moved a lot and am on my 10 state of residence.

I was technically born in Little rock when mom flew in to Arkansas from Louisiana on a red eye. She was visiting grandma and had me.

Ended up moving to Arkansas when I was like 7 or 8.

I live in Little rock now but didn't go to HS here

Yes. Less than a mile from where I lived and went to high school.

Geebs is a fine city but I'll never live there again.

Technically, no. But it's splitting hairs.

Retire: Hopefully Coastal Maine

Make sure to set aside a good chunk of that nest egg for taxes.

Compared to Louisiana

In Maine: Higher income tax rates, moderate sales tax (but no local add-ons), and higher property tax burden than Louisiana. Also, Maine ranks 5th highest in the U.S. in state + local taxes as a percentage of income.

ETA: Also a bit of a meth problem in Maine.

Yes, but God I can't wait to move from it.

Live out in the country-ish area, but all these subdivisions popping up due to family selling inherited farm land and the town itself sucks.

Mountains of N GA for me in the next 5 years

I no longer live where I grew up, but I still deer hunt across the road from my childhood home since my family kept the adjacent timber property and only sold the home place when we moved.

I know the family that owns it, and have gone over to say hello a few times. It's like time traveling every time I walk in that house.

Unfortunately, most, if not all, of the houses on that street are now rent houses.
