We don’t have gun violence here in the south.

Is this some kind of joke? The South has the most violence, in a large part because it has the most black people. (Also, even the white people in the South have a higher crime rate than white people outside the South.)

Detroit isn't really quite the same shithole that it was 15 or 20 years ago (although it still has some incidents like this), and Memphis is really worse than Detroit at this point.

Martinez Long was sentenced to two years of probation for carrying a concealed weapon.
That's an expensive lesson to learn, but at least he won't serve time.

Judge is sending a message that it's not OK to carry a weapon without proper authority.

what in the 2nd Amendment differentiates between 18 and 21 year olds?

Nothing, but you already know that. However, until challenged, the law is still the law.

To take your logic further, what, under the 2A, differentiates between 18 year old and a 17 year old? How about a 15 year old or a 12 year old? Where does your specific argument end and why?

"And what do you need a gun for protection in a mall, in the first place?"

Did the judge really say this? I live in a generally safe town. There are places that you do not go, however. Due to the clientele at the mall, that is one of those places. There have been at least two shootings at the mall in the last couple of years, The latest was just a month or two ago. If, by some chance, I absolutely had to go there, I wouldn't even pull into the parking lot without carrying, much less be trapped inside the mall without a gun.

Apparently, some billionaire from New York owns the mall, along with many others across the country. The speculation is that he buys these properties and purposely lets them become run down for some kind of tax write off.

This is really more on the DA for bringing charges.

The judge does have the option to dog the absolute frick out of the DA in court and undermine that same DA until the message is received.
