oh ok yea never had that. i even have a tooth i chipped while in boot camp that he just checks everytime, ask if it hurts and if i say no...he says leave it alone.
thats why i was confused, guess my old timey dentist is different. i mean he still only has the andy griffen show replays on the 19" tv in the lobby

Ignore your dentist for a few years and let us know how that works out for you.

If it’s a really nice office with all the fancy and high tech stuff. They have big advertising and close 5 weeks a year for conferences and work trips to Vegas and Disney…. You can bet you will need some type of work done every time you get a cleaning. They will try to up sell you on tons of stuff as well. Usually these places only see about 10 patients per day compared to basic mom and pop small town dentist who squeeze in 20-30+ doing mostly routine cleanings and cavities.

I finally was like WTF? and switched dentists. That was over 15 years ago and I've only had one cavity filled since.
It's hard to believe he was running a scam, but man my gut said he was. I guess it never hurts to get a second opinion.
I dated an office manager of a children's dentist office many years ago.
The dentist didn't like squirmy kids so she told parents, for bigger procedures, that they needed to go under. More than half of her cases at the time didn't need to but she scammed these parents out of thousands of dollars .
Her anesthesiologist was busy. $$$$

False. Every field has scammers though. Just do your research and always get a second opinion

If you want to get in and out. That's where you go. If you want a detailed work for your hour, you go to an old time dentist who gives 0 fricks about updating

Maybe you needed to do a little looking around and negotiating.
In 2019, at the age of 82 years, it was finally time for me to consider getting false teeth. My dentist was going to supply the dentures but he sent me to a specialist firm to see about extractions. I asked for an estimate and it came in at $13,700 +/- depending on difficulties encountered. I told them that no way in hell would I pay that and that I would pull my own teeth first. (They knew from my records that I had already done so on a couple when necessary.)
They kept calling to set up an appointment and I kept telling them the same answer.
After a gap of a couple of months I got another call from the head office wherein the girl told me that they would do the job for $4,000. I told her to send a detailed quote and I would consider it. The quote listed everything that they originally proposed to do for the higher price. I set up the appointment and got the job done. They installed the dentures provided by my dentist and I have had no problems other than the initial discomfort of my gumes adapting to them. Saved $9,700 by being a crusty old fart.

Dentist enrolling in dental school today, will graduate with about $500,000 worth of debt.
These recent graduates are being raped by the dental school with exorbitant fees for their education.
How do you think they’ll pay for all those loans? Just selling fluoride to their patients would be just a drop in the bucket.
It’s sad, but they’ll have to treatment plan much more aggressively to meet their loan payments. The old guy down the street doesn’t have a half million dollars worth of debt hanging over his head every day like the sword of Damocles.

I broke a crown off at the gum line, the next step is an implant, while they were at it I decided to go ahead and get two more.
My son recently had two root canals and will be getting braces in the next few months.
I will spend at least 10K on freaking teeth this year - and I have insurance

Wife took the kid to a new dentist because the kids were friends in school. My kids never had a cavity. This new guy says man, looks like you have 7 cavities that need work. I told my wife, go back to the old dentist now. No cavities at all.
You can guess which dentist had the shiny office and advertising work trips to Disney and which one didn't.
