We usually don't even turn ours up past 73 when we leave. I may put it on 77 or so when we are on vacation.

I saw that article and wondered if they even considered those living in high humidity parts of the country.

Even I don’t keep my thermostat that high.

Yeah...uh....hell no.

Electricity, like water, is something i pay for, and i'll use however the hell much of it i like.

The last time i walked in a house of mine and it was 78, i punched a hole in the wall.

We came home from vacation and the AC had gone out at some point while we were gone. Temp was over 90 degrees. So we got to extend our vacation a day while it was fixed

Ours is at 77 day and night with fans going as well.

ETA: But I totally understand that would be less tolerable in a high humidity area.

I don’t try and keep up the Jones’s, I don’t live beyond my means, I recycle, and I reuse plastic bags.

I’m sure as F not setting my thermostat at 82 degrees at night

If I let my house get that hot, it would take 3 days to cool back down.

This is an outside the south thing. I’ve lived with 2 people from the northeast down here here and both wanted the temp set at 80+ in the middle of summer. People are nuts

sorry that was the last president

I would probably get heatstroke and die, which means I would sleep forever, so yeah that might work.

82? Maybe if you are 85 years old. 68 is my sleeping temp.
