Yeah I don’t think they have factored in the additional cost of washing your sheets every day because they’re drenched in sweat.

Usually 71 for sleeping unless drunk then 70. The rest of the time 72 even if away for days/weeks.

I can sleep at 73 if I have a fan blowing directly on my face. Otherwise it’s no higher than 70.

I'd have to run the heater to hit those temps.

This advice doesn't work for this climate.

There will be insufficient dehumidifcatiion if the system does not run long enough to drop the indoor temperature versus the outside temperature.

Maybe 82 in New Mexico at night with a fan and swamp cooler system.

82 at night indoors in South LA, you are smoking rocks....

ConsumerReports.org recommends you keep your AC on the following settings:

78° F when you’re home
85° F when you’re at work or away
82° F when you’re sleeping

If it wasn't for the botched castration story This would be the most ridiculous story of the day

So...it’s best just to not have AC, cuz if I’m gonna sweat my arse off I don’t want to pay to do it.

Nope. 69 at night. 70 when I’m home during the day. If I’m out of the house for more than a day I’ll put it on 74. My comfort. My money.

My wife goes apeshit when I change the thermostat to anything under 74 in summer and over 69 in winter. Our ducts are shitty so that usually means 65 basement/74 main floor(thermostat location)/80 upstairs where we sleep. Winter is comfortable upstairs but cold as hell downstairs. Love visiting my dad who keeps it at 65.

Why the frick would I have a insulated house if I'm gonna keep the temps inside of it hotter than the outside half the time?

Would be better off just to open the fricking windows in the summer and turn the AC off completely.

These people are idiots. The Preferred temperature should only be adjusted to a 3 degree difference. Anything more than a 3 degree swing from your normal comfort setting will cause the system to work overtime.

If 68 is where you like it while you’re at home, The thermostat should beset No higher than 71-73 degrees while your away.

If you want an efficient A/C unit....Change the filter once a month, rather if it looks clean or not. Have the outside unit free from anything that could restrict air flow (Shrubbery/bushes) and have unit washed/cleaned annually. Do not shoot grass clippings from mower into unit and have unit turned off while cutting grass. (CRITICAL). Keep doors and windows shut, while AC unit is on , to prevent added humidity. Make sure all ducts are properly insulated from room vent to duct box as well as secured so no attic air can suck through.
