re: Do you support Elon Musks push for high speed rail?

The federal government should manage the construction of HSR just like the Interstate Highways. Private companies would then operate the trains, which is how Japan does it. Musk could buy his own train company.
Station location is critical to success, downtown locations are far preferred over suburban parking lots that require renting a car to get to a hotel.
Construction costs in the US are 50% higher than in Europe or China. The US would need to nationalize some freight tracks, or widen the right of ways, and upgrade the routes to get a reasonable cost with a reasonable benefit, but the benefits would be substantial in selected locations. Certainly a good altenative to spending billions on wider highways.
California HSR is a disaster. Conceived and designed for political reasons more than anything else, with no source of funding the 128 billion dollars needed to complete the project, it will be the biggest white elephant in US history. Brightline will show how it can be done.
Lucid Stew has a great Youtube channel about American HSR, I highly recommend it.

Each voting congressional district counts as one vote for electoral college plus two statewide votes

You need to see an ophthalmologist and have your eyes checked thoroughly, not an optometrist. Be sure to check for glaucoma.

Half the guys in my senior group should move up to the forward tees. Sad to see therm miserable and complaining through a horrible round of golf because they are too proud to move up to a place where they can actually get some pars.

The course will play easier though, many of the holes lost trees that influenced tee shots especially.

Ellendale opened all 18 holes today. Contractor crew cut up the downed trees and pushed them to the sides of the fairways in piles ready to be burned when possible. Many trees lost but many remain. Buildings may need new roofs. Membership is steady for now, they should come through this okay.
re: What do you call those white rubber boots?
Posted by Tigertracks on 4/13/21 at 11:19 am
Shrimp boots. Probably got popular with shrimpers working in the sun all day, much cooler than typical black boots

I bolted a pair of sand bottle holders to the central post, one on each side. I can carry sand, or a bottle of my favorite beverage, or both. Also use them for balls I pick up on the course, to store head covers, lots of things, very useful, doesn’t affect pushing at all.
re: Any old timers around and remember the Kennedy assassination?
Posted by Tigertracks on 11/24/20 at 7:54 am
JFK was a very popular president, especially after he stood up to the Soviets, and his wife's popularity was even higher.
I remember hearing about it right after lunch at school, another kid told me, he was happy because his dad was a republican.
The school put tv's in the classrooms so we could watch the funeral.
I also saw Oswald get shot on live tv. It was a Sunday evening as I recall. Everyone was shocked. There were some questions raised about conspiracy after that, but it was Mark Lane's book "Rush to Judgement" that really set things off.
Personally I believe Oswald acted alone.

re: At the end of the day, this election will come down to 3 states

Trump wins narrowly with FL, AZ, NC, ME2, NE2, and Wisconsin. Should he lose one or both of the two small districts, then he needs to win either Michigan or Pennsylvania instead of Wisconsin.
This assumes Biden wins NV NH MN, Trump wins TX IN IA OH.
The only poll that counts is the one on November 3.

Comic books, BB's and baseball cards, when they still had a stick of gum in the pack.

Congress will either raise the age for eligibility or just fund the shortage.
