Day 3 no alcohol - so far so good

Been abusing all my life. 15 oz bourbon every night....had to drink to fall asleep.
Doc put me on Acamprosate & Naltrexone. So far is working great. Acamprosate is a miracle drug, really removes the desire to drink.
Temazepam so I can get some sleep at night. Will be on it for 2 weeks and then back to the doc for eval.
Feeling pretty good except for some shakes and brain zaps...face swelling has gone way down and no bloodshot eyes in the morning.

Good for you.
My first week without booze was a game changer. Started feeling so good that I kept the streak going.

No one likes a quitter!
Just kidding, of course. Strength and best wishes to you

Day 42. Naltrexone is awesome.
Feel amazing and have no desire to ever drink again. It's just not worth it for me. I'm one of those people that can't drink casually. And that's ok.
Good luck to you.

great man, keep it up. Day 3 generally is the worst when breaking any habit imo. The next hurdle will be your 1 & 2 week marks.
CBD might help you too, but since you appear to be under medical care, I won't advise anything but asking your doctor about it.

Your liver thanks you and encourages you to keep this up as long as you possibly can.
There's nothing wrong with choosing not to drink, don't let anyone shame you for it and make you feel like a loser over it.
Take Donald Trump for example. He doesn't drink and look at him now as our billionaire POTUS.

Same for me. I don’t have the “off switch” that normal drinkers have. Once I get primed and buzzed, only the police or biology will stop me.

This basically hits the same receptors as alcohol
You need to get off that if you really want to quit
This is like replacing heroin with methadone

Get yourself some hobbies and stay busy. That was a game changer for me. I was able to focus all my drinking energy in to neat shite to the point that I forgot I was usually wanting to be drooling on the floor.
