I’ve always heard that MSC is comparable to RC with RC being better with shows and hospitality services and a little better with food. I’d like to try them out someday. MSC World America is too huge for my liking, but the Seascape has a nice layout.

I've never been on one because I have no desire to go on a cruise. I understand that many folks love them and love the cruise life. I would not. The thought of being confined to a boat, large or small, does not appeal to me.

Went on a Royal Caribbean to Alaska after the bar exam. One and only time. Not trashy folks but just too many damn people and felt like a carnival. Was at the casino every day.

Went on an el cheapo Carnival cruise out of NO 15 years ago when our kids were young and it wasn’t bad. We had a good time, but I haven’t been on another one. My wife has friends that absolutely love cruises (and they’re not trashy). She goes every summer with them, but she’s not crazy about it.

I think the varying types of cruises are lost on the average OT poster.
Some of those European river cruises are very expensive and are mainly old rich people.

Yep. We went from Lisbon to Amsterdam, Barcelona to Rome, and Dubrovnik to Istanbul. These were 10-14 day cruises

Most of the OT vacation in Grand Isle or Biloxi or 30A but would turn their nose up at anywhere in the EU, Mexico, Caribbean, or any cruise line

F- No.
American style cruise- Trapped on a ship with 1,000 dregs who smuggled alcohol in water bottles. No Thanks.
Maybe a river cruise in Europe.
Winner- Rent a catamaran with one or two couples and a captain. Sail through the BVIs or Greece. Your schedule. Your friends. You’re welcome.

Been on one about 5 years ago and you couldn't drag me to a ship to take another cruise.
Dealing with crowds is not my strong suit and it all starts at the outset to board the ship. People lined up like cattle to get on board.
The wife and I did 2 excursions, and they seemed rushed with trying to cram so much into so little time.
Yeah, not my cup of tea and never again.

River cruise on AMA or Viking, oh hell yes. AMA ship we were on had total of ~150 passengers and crew and no one under 16 allowed. A bit pricey but are fantastic and I don't remember paying extra for any excursions.
Recently did an Alaska cruise on Holland America. At least 3500 people and the extra charge for excursions sucks.
Box checked on Alaskan cruise, now time to save up and do another river cruise.

Been on (2). Royal Caribbean & Princess both in the Caribbean out of San Juan. Both were a blast. No way I'm setting foot on a Carnival out of N.O.

My wife and I like them. We always get at least an ocean side balcony. We like traveling to different places but without the hassle doing it. We go to the city squares and have drinks to soak in the local culture. Not the tourist trap ones like Senior Frogs, etc.
Course NO is great because it’s only 1 hour away from BR.
Order of preference out of NO:
Royal Caribbean- only part of the year do they sail out of NO
Norwegian- all year
Carnival- no way. No how
Galveston is nearest driving for bigger ships and more cruise lines. But it’s 5 hours each way.

Have been on two Caribbean cruises and not a big fan. Doing an Alaska cruise next month. I suspect I will like it much better.

The wife and I enjoy them, although we have no plans to do another one any time soon. The one we did right after covid was not up to the usual Royal Caribbean standards. We avoid Carnival like the plague.

My wife is a travel agent. She has been on many cruises, from Alaska to Caribbean to Greece/Turkey and European river cruising. She has travelled with many of the lines, from lower to upper tier. She has never experienced any issues with drunk or disorderly passengers. It’s not as common as social media makes it out to be. You can narrow down most issues to one cruise line out of maybe two terminals. Alaska and river cruises are her personal favorites.

Just got back from a 8 night RC Cruise out of Port Carnaveral
Really laid back and chill
St Marteen, St Croix, Puerto Rico and the RC Water Park in the Bahamas
Spent some time at Universal before the cruise, All in all pretty nice and well worth the money.

Nope. Never been on a cruise and have no interest in one. I do like deep sea fishing on occasion.
