That whole area is an embarrassment. Need lighting and a safe place for people to walk.

Sorry about your friend.

My son decided to go out of state and I know this sounds crazy but one of my biggest reliefs is he wouldn't be around Tigerland. I did it, anyone who went to LSU likely did it. It's not intrinsically a bad thing to socialize at college bars during college. But there are so many ways for bad shite to happen in that area. And it doesn't happen always, but it happens often enough. Prayers for the souls lost, to those involved and to the family and friends of those involved.

Here is an article on WBRZ from August.

I swear, the people who run our public works departments have no clue who actually lives in this city and how people use our infrastructure. Keeping LSU students safe should be a top priority, but this admin can't be bothered to restripe the dang roads and fill potholes when school's out for the summer.

I realize Tigerland is just a bunch of bars, but thousands of LSU students frequent it every weekend just like I did in the 90's and generations before me.

In 1985 Tigerland was "Magical" and safe
Some of my favorite memories were created there
Then in the 90's the whole area and all my favorite bars went "Section 8"

My friend and his girlfriend were struck by a vehicle leaving Tigerland early this morning. My friend is on life support and his girlfriend was dead on scene.

Happened around 2am near Nicholson. Driver drove through a barricade of some sort and ran over the couple, then took off.

Please say some prayers. He was a career firefighter and she was a wonderful human being.
Anyone hear anything please post.

So sorry about your friends my man. Hope they catch the person who did this.

Why in God's name would someone downvote this is baffling.

I thought that too, but it’s not really an upvote/downvote kinda post, ya know. Could go either way with the news and asking for prayers. Everyone here means well.

Upvotes can be taken to support the hit and run.

Downvotes to say you hate this situation.

Take some solace that BRPD and LSP are pretty good with hunting down hit and run drivers in situations like this.

If you are Bubby Brister’s son you’ll get community service and probation LINK
Nothing sketchy or questionable at all
quote:

Judge William Jorden sentenced Brister to three years of probation to include 250 hours of community service. Half of his community service hours must be spent on litter detail, the judge said. He was also ordered to complete a driver improvement program, speak to groups about the dangers of drinking and driving, and refrain from all alcohol and narcotics.

He says all parties agreed that Brister would wait to turn himself in on Wednesday, mainly because Monday was a holiday and the courts would be closed.

Sad news, sorry for your loss.

Seems like this situation has happened several times over the last few years. LSU needs to address public walking and provide better side walks in these areas.

Damn...I'm so sorry for the loss of your friends. It's always heartbreaking to lose the ones close to us but even more so when it's unexpected.

Tragic. The parish will now be forced to make those improvements that should’ve been made this past summer/years ago. Prayers to the families, cannot imagine the pain they’re going through with something so senseless.

No… it’s been asked and answered… if i remember correctly it’s some about it’s a state highway which prohibits sidewalks from being put there… I could be wrong but it’s some about it being HWY 30
