my mortgage is just over $5k and my property tax will be triple that. Almost $16k fml
those numbers fit right in in TX, don't have a note anymore but I paid $13k last year, house would probably go for about 7, 7-fiddy

Why would anyone want a $500+ car note?
One of the best financial decisions a young person can make is to drive a 10+ year old vehicle that is reliable.
Pay cash for it, insurance is cheaper, parts are cheaper, and it doesn't let you get into the mindset where you need a new car all the time.
I drove a 2005 z71 from high school until I was 27 (two years ago). Saved me a ton.

Why is everyone jumping up OPs arse because of a few dollars worth of disagreement? Big picture this thing.
What I'm reading is if you make 50k/year, you need to live in a trailer or a shack in the country, drive a piece of shite or something modest for under 25k (not easy in today's dollars), no cable, entertainment, savings, or spending money for anything above bills. Quite the American dream for an income that was the national average not long ago.

No way someone making $41k should be paying almost $1500/month for rent or mortgage.

Depends on where you live and how well you manage money.
As I said, I was making $45k in 2020 and doing fine.

My buddies dad just did exactly a 24 hour stay in the hospital for COVID. They gave him some fluids and just watched his breathing before releasing him.
The hospital bill came out to $94K

Then bought a Canyon after saving up. Car note is $250.

You also said you've doubled your income since then. That helps with 2023 costs quite a bit compared to someone still making that much today.

Or $525 car payment.

I didn't want it but they offered me 0% interest financing. I invested my 25k downpayment and opted to have a 515 dollar note. This is the first time I've spent more than 4k on a vehicle
I plan on driving this vehicle until it falls apart.

Maybe.
Trying to go against the stereotype of “doctors are horrible with money”.

In Dallas which isn't a cheap place to live. Here's you a 1BR in Topeka for $750.

Because saying you can’t survive making under 50k isn’t accurate at all.
You are complaining about buying a cheaper vehicle. Why the frick do I need an 80k vehicle to drive a few miles everyday? Why? I could get one for 10k that works just as well.

My daily driver is a 98 Camry as I drive a ton for work and can actually make money off my mileage with the car
I bought a low mileage 08 z71 in 2020 and a 71 Torino GT this year for a toy.
I'm 29 and only debt is my mortgage.

They can.. If the housing, food, cell, internet and health insurance is subsidized.

Whut?
I have a $1200 mortgage on a house I bought in 2020.
Car note was $225 before I got a new vehicle

my firstborn was born at Lafayette General, a long time ago, the wife's room overlooked the doctor's parking lot, there were four brand new Lambos parked side by side there everyday she was there, you could tell there was a little keeping up with Dr. Jones competition going on
