faculty meetings work the same way, ask your stupid questions one on one after the meeting so the rest of us can get the hell out

I hate just about any corporate meeting unless it's about a specific deal or issue.

Monthly or bi-weekly department meetings so we can hear everyone's schedule or listen to our brain-dead assistant talk about her latest home repair issues - no f'ing thanks.

And if you start the meeting talking about what wasn't accomplished from the last meeting - then f'ng start firing people.

Take the dumbest most annoying people on CB radio, add 4-6 more of them, and make it all a zoom video call instead

My biggest work meeting pet peeves are when someone is clearly just asking a question to look engaged or just to suck up and the person asks some ridiculous, irrelevant question that extends the meeting longe than it should be.

Boomers like you scheduling a meeting every 30 minute block of every day because you can't function independently enough to do your job without input or validation.

Do you think everyone gets to pick when their meetings are scheduled?

The online Zoom meetings are a great study in sheep behavior. They have those reactions like heart, clapping, thumbs up, celebration and I will wait until the screen is quiet and the speaker is talking about something that means nothing and I will hit a couple of hands clapping icon.

Never fails, every time after I hit it about 50 more will come right behind it.

Speaker: Hey, we know we had a record bad quarter in 1Q26

Me: Hit clapping and celebration reaction

50 more come on the screen.

There’s always someone over 60 that gets fixated on an irrelevant detail and completely derails the meeting over it.

That one person who asks a question and engages the moderator in a discussion and rambles on and on .

They are probably more annoyed that you keep messing up the coffee orders.

If there isnt an agenda, and the agenda isnt immediately relevant to me, I am not calling in.
