That really is a tough spot. Is their expectation that you become an active practicing jew as well?

Not going to lie, this is a deal breaker for me. My wife and I were both practicing, believing Protestants, and even that's had a lot of issues we've had to work through on our 10 years.

Judaism and Christianity are not compatible, and will likely create a situation where your kids are going to be very confused. It boils down to a simple edict: you, as a Christian, believe Jesus Christ is the son of God. She, as a Jew, does not. That's a binary choice without room for nuance.

Religion is an area where the marriage must be compatible and on firm foundation in order for it to be successful. Right now, you two are not close to being on the same page. You've got a lot to figure out, if you're really wanting to marry this woman.

That is correct

How will you "unbelieve" what you currently believe?

Getting married in the synagogue is one thing, but having to convert to do so, is quite another. No way I could or would do that. I'd be lying to myself and the Jewish folks.

Disagree, I know many people married who have different religions or beliefs. It’s a compromise that can be made which mainly pertains to how the children are raised. My kids go to Catholic school and even though my wife and I also went to Catholic school I don’t even consider myself Christian. Now if your morals don’t line up at all then it’s a different story.

Doesn't compute.

I have no idea what exactly Masons support. Are they not big fans of the jews?

Any reason for the synagogue and not just a hotel/resort type of place?

2nd Corinthians talks about being “unequally yoked”, but that’s New Testament so she wouldn’t believe it.

So you want to get un-messiahed? Shouldn't they convert instead?

Masonry is not a religion and has no restrictions on one's belief.

We only require a belief in a supreme being, belief in eternity of the soul and have a volume of sacred law.

Only the Knights Templar in the York Rite require you to be a Christian.

If you convert to Judaism do you get all the perks? Can you be offended as a Jewish person when Kanye talks about loving Hitler or someone denies the Holocaust? Do you get minority status?

the word is called “differences.”

There are reconcilable differences and irreconcilable differences.

If it’s “a big stretch,” then you are probably experiencing an irreconcilable difference.

They are not compatible with marriage.

From everything you've said and answered:

You grew up Southern Baptist/Methodist.

She is a PRACTICING Jew.

She wants to get married in a synagogue.

You have to convert and become a Jew to get married in her synagogue.

Jews are in their mind a matrilineal line (not just religion, but also bloodline). You have converted, your wife is practicing, thus YOUR CHILDREN WILL BE JEWISH AND RAISED AS JEWS.

There will be no Christmas, no Easter in your house for you or your children; your children will not be raised believing that Jesus is the Son of God, the Chosen One, the Messiah.

Is that what you want?

Let's be blunt, if you're considering converting to an incompatible faith for marriage you're probably not a Christian at present. So what are you giving up? Cultural Christianity? Sounds to me like you're debating whether to adopt a religion at all rather than convert to one.

Of course, in most of these situations it's just adopting the trappings of a religion, not actually becoming an adherent.
