Ed Orgeron appeared on the "Bussin with the Boys" podcast this week and talked about new LSU coach Lane Kiffin and his play-calling abilities, and what makes him one of the greatest offensive minds in college football.
quote:

"He grew up on football," Orgeron said. "On gameday, I've never seen anybody see all 22..."

"Lane sees all 22 on the field, in slow motion. And he's going to get you. He knows what you are doing on defense. And he's going to get you. Every offense has a weakness, every defense has a weakness. He knows how to get you. By formations, by shifts, and he likes to run the football."

"The guy led the SEC in rushing the last five years. Think about that. Ole Miss led the SEC in rushing the last five years. It tells you who he is as a playcaller."
Orgeron said that he has moved back to Baton Rouge and is interested in getting back into coaching as a defensive line coach or recruiting coordinator at a big-time program that can compete for a national championship.

Dude is still relatively young, kids are grown, and he probably just wants something to do. He loves coaching and recruiting. Seems like a guy who could be perfectly happy returning to the things he’s always been good at without a ton of regrets.

I remember Lane giving Ed advice after Ole Miss's win over LSU in 2021 about the LSU defense. It took Lane to get Ed and the DC, Daronte, to realize the 4-2-5 wasn't working and to go back to the 4-3 front. LSU stuffed Alabama's Heisman led offense a few weeks later and should have won had the offense not kept stepping on its toes like a bunch of buffoons.
