Continuing on my work theme…how many people have you had to fire/lay off in your career?

I’m probably at about 10 across 4 companies in my career so far. Sadly that number will likely go up.
Oh yeah and did you have to fire any for banging a coworker?

I hired more than I fired, let’s focus on the positives.

I worked in Retirements & Separations in the Air Force before AFPC took over the process. I did not personally fire Airmen, but I administered the discharge process to have them leave service. All type of reasons people got kicked out.

I have never actually fired anyone but I'm pretty sure I got someone fired for being an arsehole to another co-worker out in the open in front of patients. Told him to go home and never saw him again.

A hundred or two. We called it “ run his arse off “ instead of firing him.

Two.
One for cause and one out of spite

sounds like you don't do a good job at developing the people you hire...maybe your performance needs to be closely looked at...

I am happily retired (early) today because I chose not to fire hundreds of people. I chose to exit rather than leading (yet another) major global re org. Per my recent check in with several of my personal contacts, sitting on my porch on TD mornings was definitely the right choice!
I am proud to say -350 (no joke) in this instance.

What was the dumbest reason why someone was kicked out?

About 2-3 a year…rarely my decision but money goes up a pyramid shite rolls down… “you know if it was my choice dawg but it’s over my head on this one came from the top”

I never fired anyone. They always fired themselves. I simply made it official.

Less than 20. Most know they're not performing well and just quit showing up .
We call it "release them back into the wild"

Most of what I saw while on active duty many moons ago, soldiers were discharged for DUI's. Lot's of DV charges after deployments as well.

Only had to fire one. I learned a saying from my Dad that applied.
"If you don't work, you don't work."
Didn't hit a set goal - low bar goal at that- so adios 'LAB'!
For those that wonder about those initials = Lazy A$$ Bastard.

I personally fired a couple of dozen, but I made the final decision on well over a thousand. Those were the most miserable days of my life.

Dozens.
It was more rewarding to get them to understand my POV in a way that leads them to resign.
Having to fire someone always felt like a failure on my part. Could have trained them better, could have intervened and redirected sooner, could have reasoned through cause and effect relationships better…and so on.

I have never fired anyone. I just complete the paperwork. They fire themselves.
Never had to deal with a layoff. As noted in an earlier post, I have hired more than fired. I have had more great hires than non-great hires. Its more about the people and "relatability" than it is the resume'. Read the people, not the paper.
