And people blaming Landry, Maybe this was just a nice promotion for Tate and nothing to do with Governor Landry. I'm not a big fan of Landry but maybe it's not politically motivated is all I'm thinking.
Tate and Landry are at each others throats

That I can promise you regardless of if he leaves

Was he at LSU long enough to make a difference? In ten years, will he be remembered?

Or is being a college president going to have its own Rooney Rule, and certain presidents will move from job to job with raises each time?

I sort of expected him to use LSU as a stepping stone, but I thought we'd get more years out of him first.

Jeff Landry is a prime example of what can happen when people vote for the party instead of the candidate.

Check discussions on graduation behaviors which is only going to get worse over the next few years.

LSU Sets Historic Record for Research Activity at $488 Million LINK

AI provided this one, but enrollment is at record highs

quote:
LSU broke its previous enrollment record in Fall 2023, reaching a total of 39,419 students. This included 32,666 undergraduate students and 6,753 graduate students, with 3,786 enrolled in LSU Online. The previous record was 37,354 students in Fall 2022. LSU also saw a record-breaking freshman class in Fall 2021.

Add in making arguably the largest push in LSU's history in campus improvements. Before he took over, the maintenance backlog for LSU was into the hundreds of millions of dollars and the masterplan had sat virtually untouched for years. Since he took over they have built two new dorms, renovated multiple other dorms, remodeled the Art & Design Complex, fully renovated the Food Science building, are in the process of building a multi-disciplinary science building, renovated the vet school, and are preparing to build a new library in the coming year just to name a few. And that's all within 3.5 years.

All this was without significantly raising the cost for attendance. So not only was he fundraising at high levels, he was putting the money into action

Tate is the best president LSU has had in decades.

I was. Everyone melted for no reason. They went off the deep end about his critical theory papers from years ago

You left out the part where he liked to get "toe up" (my words, not his) at athletic events and celebrate on the field with fans. In that sense, he's just like me

Dems didn’t put up any one of substance. Dems are also much more party first people. Seeing how many people bought the Edwards being a moderate and kept helping to elect him even as Republicans won other state wide elections, voting solely for the Republican Party candidate is not an absolute reality in Governor’s elections in the state of Louisiana.

I mean, those were very legitimate concerns, especially considering the political climate at the time. But be ultimately did a great job, and will be missed. Couple that with the fact the a literal retard is in the governors office and this could be a disaster for LSU

And JBE is what happens when they vote candidate over party.
We need better candidates from both sides.

No reason? This was a completely valid reason for concern. I'm glad he read the room and didn't ruffle any feathers, but to ignore the new system president's academic background when it has ties to very controversial epistemology is obtuse.

This election was lost in the primary, when the State Republican Party inexplicitly endorsed Landry over everyone else running in his Party before that race even began.

Are you suggesting suggesting his general election Democrat opponent would have been preferable, but people just blindly voted R?

In other words, your statement is completely nonsensical in the context of the dynamics in play in that election.

Because you disagree with Landry doesn't mean it will be devastating. It will not.

Landry gets his wish and we won’t be better for it as allowing him to pick a yes man is fricking not good for LSU

Not really. People were fearing the worst when he was hired due to the critical race theory stuff, but now most people are sad to see him go because he didn't turn out to be what most feared. So people ultimately judged him by the content of his work. That's a good thing.

I don’t believe they have cut the maintenance backlog much if any, and all these construction projects were put in the pipeline years ago.

I thought Tate was definitely a step up for LSU, but let’s not give him credit for stuff he didn’t do.
